2: dry rope vs. non-dry rope
***Dry ropes are coated with Teflon which not only repels moisture but also
allows grits or sharp particles make their way out of the strands more
easily than non-dry ropes. When choosing dry ropes, make sure the strands
are individually coated, not just the sheath***
3: 缺点: 一次只能belay一个climber, rappel的时候每次只能rappel半根绳子的距离.

capacity at all when falls or such. i don't think i will get into leading
for a while, nonetheless, still need a rope just for top rope purpose. from
what i heard, static rope is cheapter, however, the dynamic rope seems still
many people's favorite. just wonder how people think here. Cabbage's FAQ is
really well written. |

Is it a lighter with unlimited fuel?
If yes, i think it's possible.
1) Puncture a small hole in the lighter fuel container (with your hand?),
make sure the rate of flowout is constant (it should be if the hole is small)
2) Burn rope in both ends and the middle
3) when one part of rope burnt all up, burn the another part of rope in the
middle.
4) Repeat 3) if necessary , while keeping track of how many drops of fuel is
dropped
5) when all the rope is burnt up, it should be 15 minutes.

周末开了几个小时，中午到达了Smith Rock，主要是参加人家举行的AAC Craggin'
classic的活动，晚上在Depot吃饭和看新出的攀岩电影。不过主要是攀岩。
话说第二次户外，indoor的话，我这个beginner只尝试到5.7，这次户外，都只在离营
地最近的Rope de Dope Rock玩。尝试了Rope De Dope crack (5.8)，到了一半的转折
点就放弃了，完成了North Slab Crack (5.5),再搞了搞旁边的how low you can go? (
5.7),基本上我这个酱油党的攀岩周末就此结束了。
园内都是攀岩的胜地，对上一次去还走了misery trail, 看了monkey face。 |

举个具体的例子: 比如说一根绳子长60m, 在垂直岩壁上设置top rope,
岩壁高度是20m,所以实际使用绳子的长度是40m, 假定静态延展性是10%,
动态延展性是30%,40m的绳长延展性对于top rope climber来说,就是
至少4m(近似估算,并且忽略其他保护装置带来的延伸), 这就意味着在你
爬到4m高之前,如果你坠落了,你还是会碰到地. 同理,在leadfall时,绳
子延伸的更多. 这是dynamic rope的优点,但是也是缺点,使用的时候
要充分考虑到这个因素.

正确理解这段话，简单的算术似乎并不够：
CLIMBER如果不借助BELAYER的拉力(BELAYER也相对能够及时收
紧绳子的情况下)，此时绳子本身处于略有松弛的不受力状态，再加
上BELAYER不断收短绳子使dynamic elongation不断缩短的变
量，滑坠开始后绳子受力及对CLIMBER产生的反作用拉力的变量，
如果不考虑滑坠后在横向可能收到的钟摆式的撞击下，在0米和不到
12米的区间内，似乎应该有一个危险的最大值(SWEET SPOT)，这
个值当然由CLIMBER的 |

发帖数: 13580 | 11 I use the high friction side of the reverso 3 when I rappel on a thin rope.
Also, extending the rappel helps a LOT with increasing the effectiveness of
autoblock. I have rapped off twin ropes quite a few times with this setting
and felt quite comfortable. ATC is not really designed for modern day thin
ropes. I mostly use it for cragging now.

I would say stiff new rope does slip through ATC guide/reverso 3 when using
as auto-lock mode, I even noticed this happened on 9.8mm rope. But as far as
you rig the system right, and never let the brake hand go, it is not a prob
lem.

It is not hard to find deal and buy a 60m X 10-10.5mm dynamic rope for less
than $100. How much will you pay for a 60m static rope? Do your own math.

- Train your leg muscle and train for forefoot landing
- Avoid the knee damage since the impact of each jump or step is absorbed by
the balls of your feet rather than the heels
- Combination of an aerobic workout and coordination-building footwork. (For
running you want to increase your cadence to 160 to 180 steps per minute)
-It's a perfect warm up exercise in winter.And you could do it indoors when weather is harsh.

belaying follower was the toughest part of the climb!
her rope was old and twisted, so it's not jus the diameter but other things

），问了下版上的朋友，有人推荐heavy rope。
因为不高兴去gym，想了下，觉得可以在家模拟，貌似搞两个轻点的哑铃(1到2磅？)，
模仿甩绳子的动作，高频率上下挥，应该是差不多的效果吧？

100下，每天swing 3-5组，运动量就不小了，再加点别的动作，就是很好的一套健身操
