（联合早报网讯）新加坡建国总理李光耀于2015年3月23日3点18分逝世，享年91岁。
总理公署刚刚发表文告，公布了李光耀逝世的消息。
李光耀是在上个月5日因感染严重肺炎，被送入新加坡中央医院接受治疗。总理公署3月
17日发文告说，李光耀的情况因受感染而恶化。3月18日下午1时20分，总理公署再发出
简短文告说，在加护病房接受治疗的李光耀仍然病重，病情已进一步恶化。
李光耀最后一次公开露面是去年11月行动党庆祝建党60周年的仪式上。
李光耀出生于1923年9月16日，1954年他创立新加坡人民行动党并担任秘书长。1959年
新加坡自治，36岁的李光耀出任总理，1990年11月卸任，之后担任内阁资政。他在2011
年5月完全退出内阁，担任阁员的时间长达52年，是我国历史上最资深的内阁成员。

强硬声明，当着中共外长王毅的面打脸，表示对中共（没点名）的举止有“serious
concerns”，敦促中共按文明法则办事（这措辞一听就一股新加坡味）。
还好东盟有十国，柬埔寨够（肯）哥（叼）们（盘），内部大闹。东盟几小时后撤回声
明，可能无法产生最后的一致声明。现在仍在闭门争吵中。结果也许是柬埔寨自家发一
个声明，其他九国各发各的。不管如何，对中共而言，比最早的东盟统一声明要好听点
。算是伟大外交胜利也可以。
对了，这次苦主是菲律宾，挑头的是新加坡，助攻是越南、印尼、马来、文莱、缅甸、
泰国。老挝打酱油。柬埔寨孤身奋战，就是不签字.

上来说几句自己很有限的一点了解。
曾经由于自己娃的原因在网上查过一点关于数学教育的资料，从此得到的感觉是实际上
并没有某一种教育观点可以被称为所谓“美国的数学教育”。美国的教育专家，中小学
教师，还有家长们之间对“数学课上应该教些什么，应该怎么教”分歧非常大，甚至有
math wars这个说法。

大致来说，八九十年代以来出现并流行的一种数学教育“流派”被称为reform math，
推崇“深度理解”和hands-on activities，让孩子通过自己“发现”的方式来学习数
学，较为反对“死记硬背”。而这个流派的反对者所推崇的或许可以称之为
traditional math。他们认为，reform math加速了美国学生数学水平的继续下降，
drill和熟练的基本运算才是最重要的。另说，math war还有一个（在个人看法中非常
愚蠢的）特征就是政治上的意识形态在某种程度上也掺和了进来，一般认为liberals更

I'm studying in the Singapore campus of University of Chicago, graduating
Mar 2016 and planning to try the H1b lottery in Apr 2016.
Background: My Master's program (Financial Mathematics) has 2 campuses, one

就个人看法而言，新加坡很不错。其实新加坡很多兄弟姐妹对美国是距离产生美。我是
鼓励那个LZ到新加坡。
为了帮助那个LZ做判断，我自己的背景：在新加坡6年后到了美国（离开前大概7万新币
/年），现在在纽约3年了，美国工作不是大问题，丢了一次工作，主动跳了2次槽。目
前在美国混的中规中矩，远不能和花街的流氓比，也没达到三番贫困线，但是也还凑合。
坦率说（包括和我的老板谈话），我都是说新加坡比纽约好多了（对于华人来说）。我
自己是非常想回去的，呆在美国唯一的理由是这里勉强钱多些（税后），而且看起来还
略略有点空间。等我觉得这里没有向上空间的时候，估计第一件事情就是找个类似的
paid回新加坡。
个人观点：同样的薪水（注意：这里说的是同样的薪水），新加坡生活质量>>美国，对
于华人来说。
1，住房：新加坡的住房真的谈不上便宜。但是因为房地产税没有或者很低，从负担上

“U r so wrong, I went to college with foreign students from Singapore, they
all speak like this lady and some are even worst. I remember this one time
at the animal shelter I was taking one of my dogs for shots, this Singapore
guy was trying to locate his lost dog. Everyone at the animal shelter tried
not to laugh at his accent because it sounds so awful & funny. How do I know
he was from Singapore because one of the officers asked for ID and he took
