Vail, Aspen, Steamboat, Crested Butte, Telluride,
Snowmass, Breckenridge.
Squaw Valley, Mammoth Mountain, Kirkwood, Heavenly, Alpine
Meadows.

Aspen, Vail,
Steamboat,Copper Mountain.
Casinos.

1632 | 9 The ski pass "Superpass" or whatever it's called, is good at Alta, Snowbird,
Brighton, and Solitude.
So it's really a very nice deal :)

Y**s 发帖数: 1632 | 10 I think Brighton has night skiing, but I've never done it thou. I thought
it was creepy enough skiing late afternoon in Solitude and there's nobody
around.
Also depends on where you are from -- "green" can mean a variety of things.
I'm from the midwest, the "greens" in Utah is equivalent to some of the "
blacks" here. Never been to powder mountain, but I heard it's a pretty
decent place - especially if it's cheaper than Alta/Snowbird.

x***k 发帖数: 3311 | 13 The snow there, on the back moutains, is not as good as the resorts in
Wasatch Front's (Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude), because of the lake
effects. Neither is Park City and Deer Valley. |

Y**s 发帖数: 1632 | 16 Haha, he's a boarder, Alta is just like an unreachable fantasy to him :D
He's right thou, I don't recommend Snowbird... Their runs are kinda steep
and worst of all, their trail map sucks. You could be going down what you
think is a green or a blue and suddenly you look down and it's a cliff... <
/sweat>
I recommend Solitude. Relatively fewer people, nice snow the few times I've
been there, and trails seem to be a bit gentler.

Y**s 发帖数: 1632 | 18 Interesting list - I think it's just top 30 resorts in no particular order?
I mean, if the rank were in order - Snowbird and Alta are both ranked
BEHIND Solitude? how? lol
I think the list caters more toward the resorts with the most attractions
and possibly more family oriented.
Personally, if I have a LOT of money to burn - go ski in Canada, book a trip
to the Cariboos mountains. Heli skiing everyday, guaranteed verticals.

r*u 发帖数: 436 | 20 Just got back from SLC yesterday. We didn't see a flake of snow the whole
week but still it was a blast! The snow is crusty in the morning but it
softens by noon and you can carve on it pretty well - no ice at all. The
last day (3/16) we went to Snowbird, the temp is about 57 degrees, the snow
becomes a little slushy but still fun to carve. We went to Brighton,
Solitude, Snowbird, Powder Mountain and the Canyons. Got superpass from the
Hilton we were staying but you can get discount lift tickets |

Y**s 发帖数: 1632 | 23 The camera man was probably having technical difficulties under the rather
extreme conditions - difficulties such as, having his head stuck under 3
feet of snow...
The visibility was about 5 feet, with 0 contrast. So basically, you are
skiing, and suddenly, you do a face plant because you didn't realize you
just went over 4 feet of fresh soft powder... lol
Anyway, tomorrow, sunny sky, Solitude. Will try to capture something more
interesting... :)

Y**s 发帖数: 1632 | 26 park city was OK, it's a plush little town, lots of bars :) park city and
deer valleys are very... nicely-kept. They don't do it for me - lacking the
"wild" feel of a big mountain. Too groomed, too "clean".
Solitude is like a wild ride with a hot chick you met by chance. Deer
Valley is like an expensive trophy wife. :)
That being said, we did check out an Open House halfway up the mountain at
Deer Valley, valued at around $3.4 million. lol
It was very nice, unfortunately just a little bit |

Y**s 发帖数: 1632 | 27 fine i'll do a brief summary of my experience. :)
Day 1: Snowbird. White out. Deep Powder. Legs cramping, Mineral Basin.
Giant funky moguls.
Day 2: Solitude. Bluebird. Glade skiing, powder floating, collision!
Day 3: Alta. Bluebird x2. Devil's Castle. 60mph gust of wind. Wildcat
runs.
In between the days: Hotpot, getting drunk, laughing, dancing, hot tubbing,
sleeping.

x***k 发帖数: 3311 | 29 Try Brighton for sure, then Solitude and Alta - Wastach Front resorts.
Never been to Powder Mountain, - sorry could not advise. It was a 2002 Oly ski site though. Ogden is a blue collar and Air Force base type of town in N. Utah.
Avoid the three resorts in Park City vicinity, be prepared to compete with celebrities and out staters. You may save a little in tickets but you spend alot in hotels, rentals, food stuff.
Deer Valley is where qmc's freinds found a 3.4m house with 15 restrooms, ha, |

x***k 发帖数: 3311 | 30 You are right. From staking to ski is a much easier transition to me as
well.
Many, many years ago, I was brought up to the mountains to ski, just because
my buddy saw I skated well. He just took me up to Solitude and got on the
chair. Man, did I fell hard from getting off the chair to all the way down
the mountain! Till today I still have not had any skiing lessons but
learned from falling, I guess.
One thing bad about skating turned to skiing is that we have hard time to do

before that to figure the trend for this winter. |

Driving should be just fine. If you do not have 4x4, use bus when it's
snowing. If you have the bus tickets included, use them.
