咖喱中的化学成分薑黄素据信有助于对付癌症。
英国医学家正在探索利用咖喱中的化学成分治疗肠癌的可能性。
咖喱中主要成分黃薑(turmeric) 中的薑黃素(curcumin)，已经显示出有多种治疗功效
试验显示，薑黄素可以破坏试验室里培养的癌细胞，对治疗中风和老年痴呆也有疗效。
现在，英国莱彻斯特的一家医院试验用薑黄素与其它化疗药物一起使用。
英国每年有大约4万人确诊患肠癌。
如果癌变扩散到身体其它部位，传统疗法是给病人服用三种不同的化疗药物，但一半左右的病人对药物治疗没有反应。
