<平凡的世界>,我也没看出来有多好，not bad anyway,
但是有很多农村出来的同学，对这本书喜欢得不得了。
想必有它真实的一面吧。
倒是上高中的时候，有一次听小说联播，
讲<平凡的世界>, 有一段粤语歌，那个Speaker随口唱了出来，
感觉不错，印象很深。
In a sense, taste 并无高低，经历不同罢了，
但要是象前几天有人来嘲笑我们Jiangsu Group的Taste,
那就惹人讨厌了。要是我们去嘲笑别人，可能他们感觉也差不多吧。

最爱恶心中国的CNN， 最近把皮蛋选为全球最“恶心”的食物之首。CNN说，皮蛋的味
道吓人，外型也怪异，像是魔鬼蛋。
我小时候第一次看切开皮蛋的样子也觉得很恶心。黑的不说，里面的黄还稀着，的确恐
怖。但是看到别人吃得很香，也尝了尝，刚开始还是不习惯，可是渐渐地竟然觉得好吃
了。我在国内是从来自己不买皮蛋吃的。可是到了美国竟然买了几次，觉得挺好吃的。
后来怕蛋里含铅，就很少吃了。
外国人说皮蛋不好吃，恐怕是不知道怎么吃。吃皮蛋一定要沾着醋才好吃。在中国餐馆
里最常见的皮蛋食品就是皮蛋粥了，外国人本来吃不惯粥，更别提皮蛋粥了。
的确一个蛋，就吃自然的样子好了，为啥费那么多功夫把它变得样子恐怖地去吃呢。

发帖数: 5958 | 3 master和phd的本质区别是master是学，而phd是创造。phd的创造能力不是躺在床上等
灵感降临，而是建立在对大量已有的但是并不完备的系统的critical thinking的
基础上的。在这种训练的基础上人的taste和insight就慢慢建立起来了。
用machine learning的语言讲，给本科生和master训练的样本都是正样本，
而给PhD训练的样本则更多的是负样本。一个技术学来用，有正样本足够了，
但是要发明有用的新技术，对负样本的学习是必不可少的。我不是说非PhD不可，
但是读PhD应该训练taste和insight的最好的途径。一个人工作以后，
如果不是在大公司的research lab，很可能几年接触的都是同一个东西，
眼界会迅速变得狭窄。比如赵策，除了eclipse和vert.x，似乎别的就啥也
不知道了。
taste这东西对于出活交货基本上没有啥帮助，有时候还会起阻碍作用。
但是如果要做一个框架让人用几十年，则是必须的。这个在计算机语言的设计上

首先有很多中国客人是还没到跟他说还有很多客人在等位（说这话一般是last resort
不会轻易说的）的时候，还在拾走空盘询问打包的时候就觉得你是在赶他走。其次我相
信我家老佛爷从来不会象lz quote的那样和客人讲话，这话有时候传一传的就变味了，
她是一个说话无论语气和用词都很注意和随和的人，这点是很多客人都认同的。
你说taste of texas等位要等两三个小时是吧，在我们这里有等8分钟就跑来表示不耐
烦说“我们都等半个小时了”的客人，去taste of texas会一直缠着代位服务员问我们
的桌子呢吗？那这也是为什么我们点不象taste of texas一样需要排2，3个小时的队啊
。我说了，中国客人和美国客人不一样，如果我们这里都是美国客人，那我也不会催，

I just can't imagine how a steak will taste without salt.

(1) Mostly the culprit of 腌制食品 is high salt, which causes high blood
pressure. I wonder if salt can be bleached out by soaking it in water for
hours. My personal experience with corned beef is that it is not so salty if
prepared or cooked this way (with lots of water). I do not cook; so I do
not know whther preparation or cooking in this manner does the treat.
(2) The trouble is I never saw live 鳗鱼 or 鳝鱼 back in Taiwan.

including the plastic kits. need to order 1 day in advance. you can do
cupcakes with the same kits. Sam's has the best deal I think, Costco here
only has huge size cakes, I heard they taste good but it's just too much,
enough to feed maybe 40 people :)
for ice cream cakes, DQ's taste good but they're too big for smaller
families. We got a small one from Aldi last time, tasted good as well, and

sand filtration --> Granular activated carbon filtration --> ultrafiltration
/ nanofiltration --> UV disinfection. Maybe add something to adjust the
taste. Spring water tastes a little better than purified water because lots
of dissolved ions are reserved in the water without being removed like
purified water, which give you a feeling of "natural taste". |

下个月，我和我妈妈会在北京一起签证，她签B2，我返签H1B。这样安排是考虑到我妈
妈的个人情况会很难轻松签过，想和她一起携签。我妈妈退休，离异，无房产，白护照
，我是独女。我自己呢，其实签证也很不容易，当年F2签了两次悲剧，第3签和老公一
起签过，来美国后读书转F1，工作转H1B，去年转H1B时，第一次悲剧，第二次才成功。
所以我不是特别确定我和妈妈一起签证是个正确的决定。
看了很多帖子，我反复修改给vo的信，重点强调我妈妈为什么回回国，强调她在国内生
活开心，和她的姐姐哥哥们的好关系，经常local travel，她回国后的旅行计划等，请
大家帮忙看看。
有几个问题：
1，信有点长，但又不知道该删掉什么了
2，没有主动提当年自己赴美的原因和后来的身份转变，也没有主动提我妈妈离异和退
休，虽然里面有说到她每个月有退休工资，不知道是否合适
3，基于我和妈妈的情况，我们一起签合适吗？

目前吃过觉得最好吃的sushi，他们有serve kaiseki，大概是8-9道菜
我很喜欢这里的fatty yellowtail，做的非常好吃，不过他们貌似没有fatty salmon
Kotobuki
就在Makoto楼上，嫌Makoto贵的可以来这里，选择比Makoto多很多，不过没Makoto做的
那么精致
DC里面我还试过sushi taro（奇贵还不好吃），Kaz（老美吃的sushi）

经济不好哪里都要自己多留个心眼才是。不管原来那个区有多安全。08年的时候，
lincoln park靠近湖边的住宅区区域也发生抢劫案。原来几乎是不可能的事。
不过那些通常都是晚上。LZ说上下班应该是没问题的。只要别太晚下班的都没什么问题

毛鸡蛋，也不觉得那就代表了中国文化，更不觉得端午节不知道有啥问题。
我也举两个例子：
几个同事在旁边聊最近看什么电影，问我喜欢啥类型，
我真诚地表达了我喜欢啥类型的，同时表示我不喜欢喜剧，
人很诧异地说为什么，我真诚地想了想，说我不是不喜欢喜剧，我是不喜欢美国喜剧，
然后皱眉想如何解释原因。
人说是不是因为那种silly型的幽默，我说没错，比如谁拉了裤子我真的不觉得好笑啊
，人说可以理解。
。。。。。。除了觉得有点打扰我工作以外，没觉得我的taste更高等或者他们的taste
更高等，或者taste不一样好痛苦好孤独。
也说个吃的，有个同事因为乳糖不耐受不吃乳制品，经常被其他同事打趣weird,有次我
在跟别人说话说到我很喜欢吃cheese，这位同事很遗憾地说我咋听说亚洲人都应该乳糖
不耐受啊，我说那是随年龄的改变，也许我的基因还没kick in呢。
。。。。。。“这位同事好痛苦好孤独因为吃的不同被孤立被异类了，我好自豪我融入
美国大社会了啊” （调侃一下，正说不如反说能简单表达我的意思）。 |
