is also one of the technologists specifically certified in molecular lab.
My gut feeling is that the job market is also good. The clinical molecular
labs are expanding due to the large amount of tests requested by clinicians
recently. A molecular lab director had complained the shortage of mb to me.

certified as a clinical technologist, you have to:
1) 1 year of training in a Certified clinical lab (clinical labs in China
not count here, because there is no certification system there) if you have
a Bechalor's degree.

title.
higher than a medical technologist. In our system, the salary is in the same
pay grade as a basic science assistant professor. Typically if you
establish some lucrative new tests for the hospital, you get a huge bonus,
otherwise there is not much to expect beyond your regular pay.

绝对不是fantasizing。不过得上2年的trainning program拿到licence。program也挺

To be a radiology technologist you just need to take one year course work
with some prerequisite courses. After you finish the one year program you
can take the exam to get your certificate. I know there is one program in
Houston, TX.
To be conservative, I believe starting salary is over 40K in Dallas area,
but if you are willing to travel you can get paid over 60K. After you work
for about two years as a readiology technologist, you can take some courses

surgical technologist & surgical first assistant， 顾名思义就是在手术室工作
的技术员和手术第一助手。surgical tech 主要工作像国内的器械护士，为即将到来的
手术准备器械和一切可能需要的用品，当然每个医生事先有preference card在电脑里
，你只要根据每个手术的不同稍作改变就行，再就是手术开始后递器械，清点所有的用
品，手术后包扎伤口等等。Surgical first assistant, 和surgical tech比起来，更
像surgeon's assistant, 主要任务是暴露手术野，止血，缝合伤口等（完全在外科医

上周一on-site面试了一个跨国香料公司的research technologist职位。在辛辛那提总
部面试。朋友的亲戚介绍的opening。supervisor也是中国人。面试挺轻松，表现算正
常。supervisor问我要了推荐信，上周五发过去。发完推荐信后介绍我的中国朋友告诉
我the supervisor almost decided to hire me。是不是我就没什么问题了？
录取的话工资大概多少？我填写申请写的5-6万。其他补贴会有哪些？
一直在焦急等待。发帖问问大家觉得我被hire可能性多大？还有询问一下如果有了
offer，大家觉得工资待遇等应该怎样。我也好有所依据地negotiate。career path是
什么前景？

老板认为工资最低线对于他来说太高了，不想涨工资。
所以想要不把title换成research technologist，这样就满足工资最低线了
本来想拿到H1B之后申请NIW的，但是就怕用实验员的title会对申请绿卡会有影响。

不知道美国这个职业就业和薪水如何？小弟现在在加拿大，国内本科是生物，加拿大弄
了个生化硕士，实在厌烦实验室看不到前途的日子，所以想转行了，专md难度有点大（
国内GPA不高的说），看来看去，自己的背景去干medical lab tech还行，这行在加拿
大的情况也稍有了解，就是想了解一下美国的情况（这里太冷，haha,还是美国好）

we just streamlined our service process and pared down one position. now 4
techs doing the work previously done by 5, saving one person's pay to use on
the research side for developing new tests.

labs, you have scientific supervisors under you.
if there is money, such as the case in bigger hospitals, you can use it for
developing new tests or doing some other research. typically the title
enables you to apply for research grants. if there is significant research,
you can make your lab a dual-function one. |

active medical license and be subspecialized in laboratory medicine. for
PhDs (must be in relevant fields such as biomedical sciences), you need to
work in a medical lab for a number of years (please check certification/
licensing requirements, I don't remember) at a position equal to or higher
than a medical technologist.

comparable to a post-doc, but more stable and simple, more like a perminant
job. At director level, the salary is comparable to a PI, but there is hard
money (clinical service), don't need to worry grants all time. Overall, it
is a better career than pure research, unless you really like science. |
