就问了三个问题：
1：Tell me about yourself.
2: 一个certificate什么时候取得的
3：什么时候毕业？什么时候可以开工。
然后就说她说她马上还要面别的人。会告诉hiring manager我们谈过了，以后再联系。
就挂了。
整个过程不到15分钟。我还没开始抖包袱就完了。我是不是被毙了？被公司当hr训练素

就不必再填W-7表申请了，也就不需要护照公证了。不过，既然楼主在问是否可以退税
，我认为楼主的父母应该是没有税号的。另外，就像楼上说的，本人必须是resident
alien 报税时才可以利用这个。
关于这个183天，你的公式是错的。前一年是算1/3，前二年（2008）是算1/6的。

以要到美国来培训，培训期满就要回国工作，且本国那份工作是guarantee的。

来。天生倒是还有可能，我这么分析：
首先，人作为动物发展过来，Majority 的个体是本着趋利避害的原则。所以，
大方向是找价格便宜量又足，而不是虐待自己。
但是，如果小地方也价格便宜量又足，那就短视了。所以高等动物都有进化得
到的压制的机制。最常用的例子，奔跑躲避狮子时，不感觉到伤口的疼痛。
对人类而言，这种机制可以在行为逻辑方面强化，即所谓“坚持”。
但是“坚持”还是基于趋利避害的原则，以损失小利益或者大利益。比如忘我工
作，实际上还是将来的潜在利益（得个诺贝尔啥的，利益未必是为了钱），跟
眼前加班的损失相比，更为重要。Astronauts risk life，实际上是因为
探索更重要，从而这种 risk 被全社会尊重。
所以大部分小孩的“坚持”，也是趋利避害，趋利是父母嘉奖的利，避害是父母
责备的害。所以这些利和害其实都是父母人为 create 的。如果没有在此基础上，
建立出长期的实际的趋利避害，那到那一天，父母 create 的利害不复存在了，
结果是啥，用屁股想想就知道了。

boss put postdoc's name and biosketch on the proposal if the guy have strong

category只能换成trainee，所以无法直接transfer。好像得回国再签一个J1了，估摸
着连SEVIS都得是新的record号码了。
我看到一般都是说要换到H，L啊等等其它签证才需要受两年限制。像这种仍然是J1，但
是所有信息都换了的情况，还受两年限制吗？

in May and exhausted all possibilities in getting a J1 for the company job..
.. it appears that even if the company can support a J1, you have to change
your J1 category (from visiting scholar to something more like a trainee or
intern or such).. and it is kinda painful.. much painful than getting a
waiver. So I am in the middle of a waiver process. Good luck. |

老板一看招架不住说把负责搞这个秘书叫过来，说秘书比较清楚。来者戴个“lab
manager"的牌子，一中年白人胖男，坐下，三言两语后很清楚是秘书不想揽这个活，说
什么这个也不是不能办，但99%进来的人都是J1, waiver 也很容易，人人都拿到了，是
你不能搞waiver还是不愿意拿J1. 我就说面试的时候这里说了能办H1所以我才放弃了其
它地方的机会（当然说了一通对专业也很有兴趣云云），而且INS也好，本单位也好，
没有任何条列against帮我办H1。H1能使我省去很多不必要的distraction,专心搞科研
，这个和我的career plan都是息息相关的.
秘书然后说他要再去查查相关的条条，老板说对对对，查查清楚，星期一一定给个很确
切的答复。过了一会秘书居然弄了一张纸头过来，上面果然写着老板必须要承诺给H13
年的salary而且万一H1被解雇了老板还要出送对方回国的机票钱，然后写了一堆办H1要

发帖数: 99 | 46 前几天发帖问OPT9月底到期，单位没有e-verify不能延期，老板临时变卦不给办H1B，
承蒙大家提了被不少建议。上个周末仔细思考后给老板写了一封邮件，同时cc给经受办
的小秘，算是做最后的努力吧。之后如石沉大海，一点音信也没有。然后Alumni &
Trainee 的人说除了不能办J的人外，这个单位的土政策是你要服务够1年才能帮你办
H1B，但最终还是取决于老板; visa office的人说办H1B的费用必须要系里出，即使你
想要自付都不可以；就是
办J,也要赶快办了，因为USCIC那里从3个月到6个月不等。最讨厌的是，德州这鬼地方
visa status和驾照有效期是绑一块儿的（如果你象我这么良民及时去改地址就会遇到
这个问题），也就是说，我的驾照也会在9月30号过期，权衡再三，只能先拿个J再
转了。
当初找工作的时候我是挺picky的，几个offer里选了这家，没想到阴沟里翻船，这么重
要的事情上被无良老板阴了一道，极度郁闷。总结了几条，大家不要步我后尘。
1. 不要轻信口头的承诺。面试的时候老板很爽快地答应给办H1B还说过去也帮别人办过
