这种下雨造成洪水，全是完全可以预期的低洼地进水，进到哪里都可以提前预知的，先
撤哪里后撤哪里，完全没有问题。
还有说撤离是judge决定的，根本就是瞎扯嘛！防灾救灾是政府功能，就是要政府有预
案有灾前准备灾后救援恢复，哪一个是法院功能？judge最多的批准，不可能是法院去
做防灾预案和救灾。
市长周四让大家不要听别人的，周六已经淹了不少地方水还在涨，居然发推说最安全的
地方就是家里不要撤，地势高的是，地势低的都进水了，咋不直接说等死是最安全的？

中国民办大学西湖大学办得好的，但是他们在美国招人的牛皮也吹得太大了。
这西湖大学有些事情确实做得过了，刚开张时五年超Caltech（美国加州理工）的豪言
还在记忆中，现在又来这招：在美国花巨资雇人。如果这在哈佛传递的信息是真的，西
湖雇教授是美国同级教授几倍的年薪，孩子重返美国读书的学费西湖大学包。这些条件
开得太没有边际了，反而会抑制后续的捐款热情。
我们来举个美国一流大学的例子：圣路易斯华盛顿大学的助理教授为9万美元左右的年
薪，西湖如果三倍会支付近30万美元，比有些Endowed教授（讲席）还高。如果西湖用
几倍的钱雇华大的副教授（10-15万美元）或正教授（15-20万美元), 费用更是惊人。
为什么要支付助理教授级别的年轻人这么多钱？一点不错，助理教授是人生创造性的高

发帖数: 34 | 22 凡是看过孕妇B超照片的恐怕都不会毫无保留，毫不犹豫的pro choice。因此pro-life
绝对是有道理的。但不给妇女任何choice又太不fair，尤其考虑到unplanned
pregnancy往往是男人造成的。因此pro-choice也有道理。
Roe v. Wade做了个很聪明的balancing act，把怀孕分为3个tri-mester来区别对待，
在我看来是很好的balance。只是Supreme Court找不到好的理由来argue for choice，
于是愣是从宪法中读出了the right to privacy并将之用于pro choice的arguement。
这确实是牵强了，所以难怪右派们不服气。
尽管说Roe v. Wade是个clever的balance，但它却是错的。为什么？因为这个决定本不
该Supreme Court 来做。McCain的观点才是最make sense的：这应该由各州自己决定。

mapping 不是不好，mapping 要用在有用的地方。比如码工背基本算法，
医生背药名解剖图，都是极其有用的 mapping。但是四则运算这个没大用的
东西，mapping 就搞个九九乘法表就差不多了，搞多没意思。chess 也是差
不多，当然啦，立志当职业 chess 高手的另说。。。另外背题海是最最没有
意义的 mapping，当然有时为了考试也是没办法。。。 |

在家里上班， (老板以前曾跟我说，如果病没全好， 不要回公司传染别人)。 老板抓
住了这个机会， 在大老板面前告我一状。 周五的时候，两个人把我叫去， 给我
PROBATION， 90天。 我当时就提出辞职， 由於老板平时就经常给小鞋穿， 所以我也
在大老板面前把平时老板种种不公平，欺人之举说出来。 大老板当然帮着老板说话(两
个都是黑人， 大老板是公司做到管理层职位最高的了)。 但对我辞职也表示惊讶， 说
并不期望我辞职， 让我回家想想。 还问我有没有其他job offer.
我回到自己cubicle以后， 细读了PROBATION。 发现他们提到两点。 一是unplanned
absences, 一是lack of accountability. 说我曾经没能按时完成一个项目， 让我老
板"would have to finish it". 我就发信解释了当时的情况。 当时老板一个上午不见
人影， 我需要edit image,又没有软件， 到处找人要安装CD， 却因为管理license
