processes use the same filename then they can get the same key.
More often, we use IPC_PRIVATE for the key. In this case, how can the 2
processes get the same key? Does that mean we have to use Ftok() if we want
to use Sys V Semaphores for 2 unrelated processes? |

totally unrelated sequences X, Y could be linked by two other sequences
linked by a common id and share common ids with X and Y.
so a b, c d, e b, e d => a b c d e
here, while "a b" and "c d" are unrelated, but "e b" and "e d" are related
by 'e', and then in turn link to "a b" by 'b', and "c d" by 'd'. |

(a) if you just want to port, or simplify, sprintf() itself, let me reassure
you it is unrelated to buffer, period. no matter what port you use. it does
not even use a FILE*.
(b) if you want to port BSD libc, that's a different story. libc essentially
has two parts: libc(3) and libc(2). libc(2) is kernel API, it's different
from OS to OS. usually each call is a wrapper to corresponding kernel API.
