s*****g 发帖数: 1055 | 1 Can anyone shed some light on how IP FRR failure detection works? I don't
quite get the "failure detection" section described in:
"IP Fast Reroute Framework
draft-ietf-rtgwg-ipfrr-framework-13"
The 3 methods listed there are only applicable to link failures, how does IP
-FRR detect node failure? | z**r 发帖数: 17771 | 2 my understanding is both link protection and node protection use the same
methods to detect failure, say BFD.
link protection creates a next hop (NHOP) backup tunnel, and node proection
creates a next-next hop (NNHOP) backup tunnel, which means the MP is the
router behind the protected router.

protocol in this case?
MPLS can use RSVP PATH error message to notify upstream (PLR) to create a
repair session when failure happens in next next hop, but IP does not have
similar mechanism. | z**r 发帖数: 17771 | 4 RFC 5883? BFD triggered FRR isn't new to MPLS FRR, but for IP FRR triggered
by BFD, I don't know, but it's described in the RFC 5714 section 5.2.3 "
Methods for link/node failure determination may be based on techniques such
as BFD", so there should be some kind of implementations in IP FRR? at least
, it's a good match to MPLS FRR to me :)
