where the postdoc mostly came from directly from mainland on J1 visa, often
the salary was below NIH standard, as long as it is higher than the minimal
requirement for J1. In other groups where postdocs were most US and
Europe degree holder, NIH standard was the norm. If you have money, paying a
little above the NIH standard will definitely make you a very nice boss.
HMS is famous for its low postdoc salary. One reason I dislike Boston so
much is I lived on a minimal postdoc salary in a place where living expense

is it easy to hire tech or postdoc in Boston? I know people from BU
complaint about hiring, they told me that people would like to move to HMS,
so they have hard time to keep people in BU.

发帖数: 1359 | 4 I don't know tech salary. The group I worked in like to hire fresh BS to
help out animal experiments. I don't think they get paid more than postdoc.
But these BS were there to get a reference letter from my old boss. After
one or two years, they always left for graduate school.
It should be easy to hire postdoc if you only need a pair of skilled hands.
There are so many PhDs trapped in the postdoc level in the area. But like
everywhere it is hard to find people with good sense in science. Those with
it certainly will not work for a new AP if they have a choice.
