Sarah wrap up their internships. I’ve also got a senior engineer opening
for my team in XSJ. The job descriptions are below.

System Integration & Verification/Validation Intern (2 openings)
The Systems Integration and Validation group plays a key role in the
development of test systems and hardware for test and characterization of
Xilinx’s advanced device families.
Our most recent project has been for the ground-breaking Zynq-7000 Embedded
Processing product with dual core ARM processing. Here is a video showing

To support our group, we are looking for a 6-12 month intern. Shorter
internships will NOT be considered.
Typical duties:
- Design, research and bring-up of embedded systems utilizing Xilinx FPGAs
with ARM, PowerPC, or MicroBlaze CPUs
- Understand and use microprocessors in FPGAs, using microprocessor
documentation as references
- Support the group in building software designs around advanced features of
current and future FPGA families
- Assist in running benchmarks on standalone and on embedded operating
system(e.g. Linux) environments
- Assemble test hardware from standard components. Knowledge of PC assembly,
soldering, network installation is desirable.
- Develop Standalone applications for tests
- Compile Linux kernels for embedded systems
- Help automate design, test and build processes
- Develop scripts for regression tests
- Debug test failures
Job Requirements
Sophomore (2nd year) or Junior (3rd year) student enrolled in a Bachelors or
student in a Masters Degree program in Electrical / Computer Engineering
with an emphasis on embedded system development.
Programming languages: C, PERL, Verilog
Student must be available for 6-12months, starting in May/June, and able to
re-locate to San Jose. Shorter internships will not be considered.

Senior Systems Design Engineer
Xilinx is looking for a Senior Systems Design Engineer to join the System-
level Test team in San Jose. You will be involved in the silicon life-cycle
from testing of emulated next-generation RTL through to silicon
verification and characterization. You will have a view of the full system
but also will become an expert in certain IP down to the register-level. We
are looking for someone who can span the range of understanding the big
picture down to rolling up their sleeves to debug on hardware.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide feedback on architecture, use cases, IP design, tools, and
documentation
- Enhance existing test software for system-level validation and
verification of existing and new FPGA/SOC features.
- Work with multiple teams to drive system-level bugs to resolution.
- Design, develop, implement, test, and verify systems based on Xilinx FPGAs
with embedded MicroBlaze or ARM processors
- Determine design approaches and parameters to build complete systems for
emulation, verification, validation and benchmarking of new silicon features
at a system level.
- Help to develop novel methods for system-level modeling and verification
Required
- BS in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering and 4-7 years of
relevant industry experience,
or MS Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering and 2-5 years of
relevant industry experience,
or PhD with relevant research experience
- Excellent debugging skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in C programming
- Direct experience with firmware or device driver programming.
- Experience understanding system use cases, determining requirements, and
writing test specifications
- Experience working in a Linux environment & Perl scripting
- Experience with Verilog or VHDL
- Experience with embedded systems and MicroBlaze or ARM architecture and
assembly language
- A solid understanding of Verification Methodologies
- Strong communication skills
Preferred
Experience/expertise with ARM v7 CPUs, GPU, bus interfaces and protocols (
AXI, AHB, etc.), high speed interfaces (DDR2/3/4, PCIe, Ethernet, SD, USB,
