We all wonder about things. In fact, the ability to wonder is perhaps what
made us different from other living beings. Most of people take a full
advantage of their ability to wonder, especially man, who spent most of
their lives wondering about woman, beautiful woman like Wenyan.
If I am a man, I would probably fall in love with Wenyan as soon as I saw
her. She radiated a nature attraction ever since she was 15. Like most of
minorities, she had big eyes, high eyebrows, and a contoured face. Her waist
was small and any cloth would look pretty on her. I knew she had no money
to buy expensive clothes, but she surely knew the secret of putting the
right colors together. Not as eye catching as Wenyan, Huaqing also looked
pretty. From a far distance, she looked like a model. She was the tallest
among us. She was really slim and her bone structure was small. Ever since
her dad became rich, her clothes had been expensive and fashionable.
Standing beside them, I was invisible and I liked being invisible.
Wenyan liked the opposite. She joined several student organizations to
increase her visibility. In the beginning of her second year in college, she
started to run for the president of the student Union. She figured that
grades in college were not important. As long as you pass all the courses,
they would let you graduate. She suddenly became a party person. It was
nearly impossible to find her during the weekends. Huaqing always companied
Wenyan to her parties. I only went to a party once with them. I wouldn’t
say that I enjoyed it. But it was fun to watch how boys flew around Wenyan
and Huaqing like sand flies. Maybe it was not their fault, since Wenyan was
like a sponge and indeed can quickly absorb boys’ attention. Boys tried to
talk with Wenyan and Huaqing, as if they wanted something intellectual from
them. Normally, within a few sentence, they should be able to find that
Wenyan’s heart was as hard as stone and Huaqing had no spirit. But they
were blind by their beauty and they were sweating whenever they had a chance
to talk to them. Man, the most pretentious creature in the universe.
Wenyan enjoyed being the center of the attention. But for Huaqing, as far as
I can tell, her attention was on me and Wenyan. I finally realized that it
was not her dad who made her to protect me. She herself wanted to protect me
and Wenyan. Every day, she got up at 6 am to take care of the morning sign
up for us. After that, she stood in line to buy breakfast for us. The
business of her father's factory was getting better and better. She was
given more allowance then what she could spend. She got fruits and cookies
for us. It felt like that we had been exploiting her. She never realized
that she was actually the most vulnerable among us. Wenyan wouldn’t care.
She needed us. She registered the same courses with me just to copy my
homework and she needed Huaqing’s company to the poker games in boys’ dorm
.
I only had one goal – to be invisible. But I knew in this twisted world, if
you want to be invisible, you first needed to be visible. I wanted to join
a club or something to make myself appeared normal or sociable. I tried a
couple of clubs and I couldn’t sit through the opening marks. All the
organizers declared that the mission of their clubs was for the “well being
of our country and providing service to students.” I wanted to laugh. Isn
’t that funny? Why don’t you just admit that you organized a club just to
bring a group of person who would give you their attention?
Before I finally settled with a club, Wenyan and Huaqing brought a news to
me. One day, I sat beside my tree friends to read a fascinating novel, an
ordinary world. Suddenly, someone covered my eyes from behind. “Wenyan...It
is no fun. I know it is you.” Wenyan giggled, so did Huaqing.
“It is not good to sit on the ground to read. The land is too cold. You
should at least bring yourself a cushion.” Huaqing sounded like a mother. I
bet she would be a good one. “I am too lazy. So what brought you two here?
” Shouldn’t they be attending a party? “Now you are famous....Every girl
on campus wants to know you. They all want to find out how attractive you
are.” Wenyan sounded being amused. “What have I done to deserve this much
attention?” I thought she was kidding. I was sure that nobody would notice
me, since I followed rules and never spoke. “A boy wrote you a poem.”
Huaqing sounded being worried. I started to realize that something must have
happened. “Here is the news paper. Enjoy.” Wenyan was about to laugh. It
must be something funning. Here is his poemLight for a mothTo QingnaLonely
moth in a cold nightChilly wind blewGolden colors fade to blackDarkness
blanketed his worldHope evaporated from his worldFar awayThere shined a
lightA light which gave out joyA light which ended the suffering of the
longly mothHope had returned
This poem was from a boy named Jingfeng Shi. I swore I never met him before.
This poem would be a hoax, a joke or a coincident. There would be another
girl named Qingna. I bet there were millions of parents wanted their
children to be diligent and silent.
But something else was interesting on that news paper. There was an
announcement for an opening or an editor. That sounded like a perfect
position. It would make me a normal person and also a nerd. While I was
thinking about the editor position, Wenyan asked me: “What do you think?”
I replied:“Think about what?”
I can tell that Huaqing was very keen on finding me a boyfriend and believed
that only boys can make me a normal human being. She almost cannot hide the
anxious in her voice: “I got a good feeling about Jingfeng. I think he is
brave and sensitive. You two are similar. You all like literature.” She
sounded like a match maker. I bet she would be a good one too. But I didn’t
get her point. I asked: “Why similarity matters that much?”Wenyan was
reading the Gone With Wind at that time. She never forgot to remind me of
that: “Scartlett and Rhett fell in love because they were similar.”“Had
Scartlett and Rhett ever truly love each other?” I was not a fan of the
Gone With Wind. “Of course. If I were Scartlett, I would be madly in love
with Rhett right from the beginning. Athley was so worthless.” Wenyan
sounded so like Scartlett. “No. Athley is the one who deserve the love. He
is an intelligent gentle man. I liked his thoughts. Besides, he never left
Melanie. Rhett left Scartlett several times.” Huaqing sounded like Melanie.
“But he is useless. Rhett is the one who can provide. He knows how to
spoil a woman. I will only marry someone who is powerful enough to protect
me and ensure my success.” Here comes that success theory again. I had to
pour cold water on the hot head of Wenyan. “Rhett was incapable to love
other people. He was too analytical. Love is not something that he can
analyze. Rhett analyzed his love to Scartlett too much. He deliberately
chose not to chase something if he knew he would lose it. Don't you think
that is too rational? I think it is better to have loved and lost then never
have to lose at all. We were given a life to lose. In fact, we were given
everything to lose. Rhett often thought of other people as fools.
But he was just one of them. After his daughter grew a heart in him, he
became irrational. Don't you see? He was not a grown man. He was about to
grow up.”
Whenever I gave a long speech, Wenyan became impatient. She wanted quick
answers. She asked me: “Which of us will fall in love first?” I said: “
You. A girl has to be silly to catch a husband (From Gone with Wind).”
After I said this, Wenyan pinched my face. It was painful. I turned to
Huaqing for help: “Are you going to watch? She just pinched me.” Huaqing
then said: “Stop, Wenyan. We should go shopping and get Qingna some good
clothes.” “I don’t want to go. I would rather read.” “No. You shouldn’
t always wear black. It was the least attractive color. We need to find you
a boy friend.” She hinted Huaqing with a blink. Then they each held one of
my arms and kidnapped me. |

My idea is that different types of paper fits for different people's purpose.
I think you may re-evaluate your estimation.

目前已经有3个人在我的威逼和利诱下读完了。据他们说英文很好懂（虽然语法错误不
少）。。。。
