理的是从右边顶上开始，但刚好第一排就碰到那块瓷砖了，是不是分别从顶上和底边开

some kind of reference to guide you (a laser or a wire) such that both sides
grow follow the same parallel line. When they pass the tile line, you will
have to notch a board or two. But that's doable. If you plan carefully, you
can avoid the notch cut for this location. But, in general, you probably
have to make notch cut at some other locations anyway. So you may need to
practice it.
Going back to laying the plank now. If you find that both sides are not
growing in parallel, you need need to make some adjustment to the row
closest to the wall at the right-hand side of of tiles. I don't know whether
you're going to use baseboard or quarter round and how wide they're. The
quarter round I used is wide enough to cover a small amount of adjustment.
Don't forgot to adjust the spacers too. The ones that came from my board's
manufacture is triangle-shaped. So I can get any thickness within a range.
The ones from HomeDepot can only give you 3 or 4 discrete thickness, thus
less flexible. Another trick you can do is to start the first row with half
planks, not full plank. This way you can just cut another plank for the
adjustment you want.
For the spacers on the tiles, you will need something to support them
initially, a tape, a paper board, even play dough. Once your hammer the
planks against it, you can put tapes on both sides so that they will not
fall.

样，能不能发张图上来，如果真的需要调整宽度，是不是动了spacer以后，还要在敲一
遍，重新固定？

Most modern gas only fireplaces with fixed glass do not require a hearth
extension. The manufacturers usually require a 36" clear space in front (no
furniture, etc.). Now if this was a wood burning fireplace that had a gas
insert, the hearth extension would still be required. Once wood burning,
always wood burning.
As a matter of terminology. The "hearth" is the "floor" located within the
firebox, whether wood burning or gas. The "hearth extension" is the non-
combustible material found in front of a fireplace. Both should be inspected
. To call the "hearth extension" a "hearth" is common with many inspectors,
but it is incorrect. |

behind glass. I bet that gets you around code.

COASTROAD Hearth & Patio Mother bear is correct. Gas fireplaces do not
require hearth extensions by code, but may require one IF the installation
manual of the fireplace says it does. That particular fireplace does not
require a non-combustible hearth extension in the installation manual. |

If you do it carefully, you only need to adjust the spacer. No need to take
everything apart and re-hammer. Like I said, use a laser or a wire as a
guide.
