of time on my feet. almost forgot how to run on heels, until I rediscovered
heel strike 7 miles into my run today. a moderate heel strike is still most
efficient for me. It's taper time...again! |

continuously on forefoot for more than 4
hours. I would have to resort to heel strike to preserve my leg muscles, in
ultra events.

different distance/pace/elevation of the run?

raccoon 90%-:)
I am planning on a Marathon training after I go back although can not
imagine how hot TX is this year...The race should be in Dec.
How long do you think it will take for an ultra training?

But on the other hand, my biggest goal next year will be Leadville and Rocky
Raccoon would be a good place to test my legs.
Ultra training, well, the longer the better. Basically you just need to
build up big mileage and have a relatively long taper.

behind me ran it as a tune-up race for Rocky Raccoon. So you can do both.:)
I think I probably won't do Rocky Raccoon. But I may try the devil race.:)

board has a 2:55 marathon time I believe. There are at least 4 sub 3
marathoners who's been around here.

前两天看我比赛的照片， 发现还是用的脚跟。。。郁闷。。

best runner in my former running club,
an 45 yr old architect, ran a 2:36 marathon. That's a guy who does track
workout at sub 5 minute pace and
runs 100 miles per week. Not even Scott Jurek can run a marathon this fast.

Here are four pictures of me in races taken in May 2009, Oct 2009, Nov 2009
and this month. In the first one,
I had a very extreme case of heel strike. I suffered a knee injury shortly
after that race. In the second picture,
my heel strike became a moderate one. In the third one I ran in five fingers
and it was completely forefoot
strike. In the fourth one it was midfoot strike.

最后这张是这回BQ的时候照的么？
我觉得好像跑快或者累了的时候就容易不自觉变成了heel strike....
我改了neutral鞋子以后就能感觉到脚跟疼。。。改running form真挺难的。。。
不过有些人似乎天生就是forefoot strike, 真羡慕啊。。。
