i'm kicking myself for being stupid last saturday when i did a 10 mi run w/
my running partner w/o any warm up, we got to 9:30 pace in the 1st mile and
went even faster in the 2nd. i'd ok with that if my muscle is warm but it
was a cold morning. i knew i shouldn't do that but she was literally 2 steps
ahead me most of the time. any male w/ little bit pride wouldn't want be
seen like this, now i wish my skin were thicker.
my IT band has been punishing me since then, i jumped downstairs w/ one leg
for 2 days, i run at 11 min pace and wouldn't last beyond 4.5 mi. finally i
told my coach and he asked me not to do the run-in at sunday's phyill
marathon as planned. i'm so disappointed at myself, and i disappointed a
friend.
i'll still be at the water stop at mile 10 as volunteer. i know a few of you
are coming to philly -vivil & LD, Margo, ryanflower,liushui
wordpress,etc. hope to see you there and wish you a great race!

sorry to hear that. it happens. it is not stupid I would say. sometime we
just want to take some chance and things did not go thru.
were you planning run the Philly marathon ? or just a 'run'?

我发病也是因为跟我lg一起跑他pace我太快了..差不多这个速度才3mile我就翘了..如
果我自己应该不致于..也搭上本身已经狠疲劳了..现在我前三mile绝对不跑过10以下..

our coach paired us who don't run this race with those run full marathon
for the first time, we run only the last 6 mi with them which is the tough
stretch. now my friend probably will have no one to run him in unless
someone else steps in, i'm so disappointed that i lay him down.

一个月前那期Runners World有篇短文介绍一个6个动作的跑前热身套路,属于动态拉伸
,我坚持了一个月每次跑前做5分钟,感觉不错,做完准备运动跑起来觉得基本活动开
了。
找了一下,这里有:

这个文章让每个动作做10遍,我一般都做20遍。

thanks for the link. the warm-up i'm talking about is not the stretching
part, but the initial slow jog. everybody is different, but i know too well
that i need minimally a mile to warm up, i have HR data to back that up.
if one knows something is wrong for sure and then goes ahead, to me that's
the very definition of stupidity. i brought this injury to my self knowingly
, it was no accident. the lesson i learned is one HAS to be disciplined when
it come to training.

Years ago I'd jump on the treadmill for a 6 minute mile without any warm up
at all, and felt like dying. These days I take my time to warm up fully. For
instance, in my tempo run this Tuesday, I started as slow as 10:00 pace and
went down to 7:00 in 3 miles. Then I started the tempo run at 6:40 and went
down to 6:18 six miles later.
When you hear about the training of the Kenyans, they always start running
at a very slow jogging pace, not too much faster than walking, and gradually
increase to a blistering pace and finish with near all out sprints.

恩,因为我是凌晨跑步,所以我warmup的时间也特别长,大概3迈,11min pace,10min,
9min各跑一迈.

that's the way! particularly in cold weather. cold muscle gets injured

我每次都是又作动态拉伸,又至少慢跑一迈热身的。这个是单独行动的好处,呵呵

yes, definitely want to cheer for you! what's your pace so i have a rough

not by my standard, unfortunately. in the future, i'll get there 12-15 min
earlier and run my warm-up mile before others show up.
