probably only work if you have been a Tmobile customer for a few years and
are currently on a month-to-month contract.
I called 1-800-Tmobile to inquire about upgrading from my G2 to a Samsung
Galaxy S2. The regular customer service rep couldn't give me a better deal
than the standard price of $230, however when she transfered me to the
customer loyalty department, I was able to get a much better deal.
The customer loyalty rep informed me that I had a $250 credit available on
my account that could be applied if I signed up for a new 2 year agreement.
I asked if I could apply that to the new SGS2 phone released today. She
talked to her manager and was able to sell me the phone for ~$94. I asked
why the phone wasn't free after the $250 that I was approved for and she
told me the $94 was partly taxes that are charged on the full price of the
phone (California) and that she couldn't discount the phone any further. In
addition to this, she said that there is a $50 mail in rebate available for
the phone, making the final price $44.
Now, I don't believe I did anything special to get this $250 account credit
other than being a customer for ~9 years and currently not being in a
contract. I'm not sure how many of you will be able to replicate this deal,
but I wanted to share it in case others were in the same situation and
wanting to upgrade.
