LOS ANGELES — A tracking firm says the median home price in Southern
California dropped just over 1 percent in April from March.
The price drop reported today by MDA DataQuick comes after three months
when prices remained essentially unchanged, raising hopes the market had
reached bottom.
Last month's median home price of $247,000 in a six-county region of
Southern California was almost 36 percent lower than the April 2008
median price of $385,000.
DataQuick also says home sales jumped more than 31 percent as first-time
buyers and investors bought up distressed homes in the region's most
affordable inland neighborhoods.
Foreclosures accounted for almost 54 percent of the April sales. |
