发帖数: 1868 | 8 今天因为要带女儿作体检， 就又没有去Master Swimming。这周只去了一次。到了Y下
水就开始游了。以前好像有心理障碍，总觉得自己游不长。 但是今天我想怎么也得游
长点儿。 游起来之后觉得呼吸和动作都很轻松，尽量做到6次打腿的标准动作，身体的
Rotation做到位。 到了1000Yard起来看了一下表。然后又游了1000yard. 第二个1000
游得显然比第一个快些。注意了划水的问题。尽量高肘弯臂，划水尽量使力但也没有用
很大的力因为怕累得太快，然后大拇指擦着大腿出水。最后100Yard加速了一下。 第一
个1000Yard因为没有看起始时间，可能有20分到21分的样子。第二个1000Yard19分左右。
我觉得我的突破有两个主要原因：
1。Master Swimming 的高强度训练使我提高不少。和队友一起游，偷不得懒。强烈推
荐。
2。最近的Brick练习。我在近三周开始了Brick训练，就是骑45-60分钟的自行车然后再
跑3英里。体力加强了，腿部力量加强了，心肺功能也加强了。比如昨天在Stationary

As far as I know, the whole surface will turn un-even after many years if
you didn't lay the bricks properly. I did lay the bricks at my front yard,

1. 现在回过头看，建议大家在开始住院医之前做好两件准备，这里是针对内科住院医
1） 考了Step 3。当然从知道Match结果到进科，有很多事情，要找房子，要搬家等
等，但要考个像样的成绩，是要至少2个月Full time study 才好。这对于要申请热门
Fellowship的同学，很重要，不是说过线就行。
2） 把Pocket Medicine过一遍，知道常见病的基本知识。在之后的三年里，把这本
书翻的滚瓜烂熟。
3） 如果还有时间和精力，建议好好练练Presentation，尤其是几个大病：Chest
pain; pneumonia; stroke; heart failure; syncope; COPD exacerbation; 要知道如
何带着鉴别诊断来问诊，如何体检，workup, differential diagnosis, assessment
and plan.
2. 进入住院医，不要掉以轻心，你会面对很多障碍，而这些障碍就是你的机会。

Level and pad the ground, put on the weed protection sheet ( from HD ), then
some sands ( from HD, about $5 a bag, 25lbs/bag), finally the bricks. Fill

Usually, it's expensive to install bricks and keep an even surface. Besides,
there's one more problem in New England, frost upheaval (for those never
heard of this , just google). To avoid that, every permanent structure needs
footing below frost line, which is about 4' here. But driveway can't afford
that, right? Sure, the problem is common to all driveways, true, they all
crack up eventually, but asphalt is self-curing, which makes it ideal for
New England winter.

我看了很多网上的文章，都说正规的做法是在现有的foundation上打洞，放rebar,然后
固定brick, 然后再把sill plate固定在brick上面
少数人提到就简单的把brick用motar粘在地上了。
请问你们怎么看。不用rebar会有很大隐患么？ |

是房子本身的结构， 那是可以百年不倒， 什么sandy都是小case. 很多老的大学建筑
都是这个的。很多大款自己建房子也用。
brick veneer 只是veneer,它不是房子结构的一部分，你可以把它拆掉，换成其他结构
， 房子不会倒。大多数现在的砖房是这种。brick veneer与房子之间有1~2寸的空隙，
飓风一来， 和其他房子一起倒， 没有两样。 |

I'm buying a full brick townhouse which requires 0 maintenance (it receive
no dmg from Hurricane Sandy last year). In case of I moved to other city,

townhouse can be easily rent out as it's 10 min walk to light rail station.

2) may also be used
stucco, aluminum, ledge rock
3)use of cement block, slag, cinder block, imitation brick, ashphalt, and/or
any type of commercial siding is expressly prohibited.
which category hardie-plank cement belong here?

A vertical crack in the brick veneer along the right side was also observed.

向盘，小门什么的。等开始给儿子买 lego 才发现几十年过去了，lego 已经变得这么
具体，华丽了，一个大 set 里面那种厚 bricks 已经很少了，大多是比指甲盖还小的
小 piece，而且以前要靠许多 bricks 搭出的 detail 比如挡泥板什么的现在都用专
门的零件了，如果丢了一两个关键零件可能整套就废了。
当然现在的 lego 能搭出来的东西观赏性大多了。 |
