战争结束后，获胜的智利军方却背信弃义地把华工战士戴上镣铐，押送到边境地带的硝
石产地，强迫他们从事奴隶劳动。关于此事，当时的智利军队统帅帕特里西奥·林奇在
回忆录中直言不讳地承认，他曾和秘鲁种植园主谈判，并把逃亡华工归还给后者。究其
原因，在于当时智利正对秘鲁实施军事占领，希望争取该国上层人士（特别是大种植园
主）的支持，并需要靠无偿压榨华工来获得补给。
“太平军余部在南美帮智利击败秘鲁”的故事，其实是后人在某些历史片段的基础上误
传、编造而成的演义。 |
