“萨克森”（英：Saxony，德：Sachsen），对于欧洲和欧洲史有所了解的同学来说，是一个四处出现的字眼。我们知道大阴帝国的主体民族盎格鲁•撒克逊人来源于大陆的萨克森。当今德国也有数个以萨克森命名的联邦州。追本溯源，最初的萨克森人是居住在易北河下游一带的一个日耳曼人部落联盟。从公元6世纪开始，因为种种地缘利益的冲突，特别是因为萨克森人拒不接受基督教信仰，他们和西南方的邻居法兰克人开始频繁的冲突。772年，当时的法兰克国王，后来神马帝国的开创者查理曼大帝开始了长达30年之久的血腥的“萨克森战争”，最终将萨克森人和萨克森地区划入了帝国的统治范围。

其实第一个原因还更主导一些。
另外，有众多类似对手互相拉练的拉锯战争也是科技的催化剂。所以春秋战国是中华文
明的轴心时代。多少科学家是法国炮兵学校训练出来的。
毕升之后，中国的文人统治阶层（江南人）完全不适应战争。所以胜利者总是胜利地太
快太轻易。全是没死几个人，就胜利了。好比满清征服全中国，没死几个人。死的还都
是在和蒙古的战争中（雍正说的）。
因此，催化剂没法发挥作用。甚至战争之后，科技大退步（比如清朝代替明朝，又以骑
射为本），胜利者觉得失败者的科技完全无用。其实不是科技无用，而是掌握科技的人
太没用。
看欧洲人打成什么样，经历了三百年和平的大清，在鸦片战争不败才没有天理。大清的
军队是酒囊饭袋，英军是身经百战。
