w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 2 went to the shoe store today to get myself a pair of trail running shoes.
tried asics kahana, didn't feel right -- it was too soft. ended up buying
adidas kanadia TR 3. It's fairly light weight, and the soles are relatively
hard.
On the road: it feels a bit weird. There is not very much cushioning, but
fine with forefoot strike.
On dirt trail: pretty terrible. the traction isn't good on flat dirt trail.
definitely feels better in cumulus.
On real trail: absolutely fantastic. the traction is grea |

A****t 发帖数: 759 | 3 my first official running shoes are NB WR749 for trail. Totally agree the
cushioning is great, not too soft and not too hard. It has thicker cushion
on the heel so I felt great during heel striking. Now it's OK, but a little
weird during forefoot landing. |

Did you take some pictures to show your landing at different pace?
But I can see your left foot landing with forefoot. Hard to see the right
foot.
In addition, you might need to show your upper body as well. |

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 12 I think my upper body became significantly more stable when I switched to
forefoot strike from heel strike. paw back is also important. you want to
whip your legs backward instead of trying to put your weight on them. |

z********0 发帖数: 9013 | 13 Oh. OK. Thanks for the explanation. I misunderstood the concept of midfoot

Some articles I read say that, for forefoot striking, once the ball part of
the foot landed, it then rolls to the heel. Is that true? |

4931 | 17 When I run downhills, especially relatively steep downhills, if my legs are
fresh, I would lift my feet very high towards my butt, and still land on my
forefoot. It's basically sprinting form, but I let gravity do the work. just
have to make sure that the calfs are fresh enough to absorb the impact.

r*****p 发帖数: 531 | 31 I had SpeedStar for a while now (have the female version, men's version is
too wide for my feet), run a few short - HM races with them, feel kinda nice
. The stripes locked my forefoot well, do not have any problem with it. Like
it's light weight and the fact that it has enough cushion on heels, so
wouldn't be a problem if you run a slightly longer race in them. Just not
sure if they are good choices for a FM. |
|
r*****p 发帖数: 531 | 32 How did your calves feel towards the end in this race?
I'm worrying since they have thick cushion on the heels but thin cushion on
the forefoot part, I feel I gain faster leg turnovers with this design, but
does it stress out your calves when adding on miles? |
|

Plantar fasciitis

4931 | 37 in mizuno wave universe, forefoot strike is the only option. the soles are
so thin that you can feel little rocks on the road.
normally, racing flats are recommended only for those who can run a sub 2:40
marathon. speedstar is not quite racing flats, so it's probably okay for
someone trying to run around 3 hours. at this point I have no plan to use
speedstar in marathon races - still need some time to experiment with it. |

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 43 It's normal to have some discomfort in your feet when you start doing
barefoot or forefoot running. Normally, the injury that comes all of a
sudden also tends to go away quickly, as long as you don't push through the
pain recklessly. When I spent a week in Austin one time, I did a lot of
running on hilly concrete sidewalks and that gave me an inflamed tendon on
my foot for a couple days. It was quite painful initially but wasn't
anything serious and I recovered quickly. |

g****g 发帖数: 1828 | 44 Forward versus Side-to-Side movement
The basic difference can be seen in their purposes and the resulting
appropriate levels of support stability and cushion.
An "all terrain" shoe is based on a classic running shoe design:
- Higher-heel, lower-footbed (for forward rocking-movement)
- Cushion in Heel and Ball-of-foot
- Roll-up toe
- Flexible forefoot
Additionally, "all terrain" shoes offer a more aggressive outsole tread for
better traction and some models also offer a solid-plate in the midsole |
|
w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 45 not really. it mostly has to do with the position of the upper body and the use of hips. Now I land on my
forefoot regardless of whether I'm going at 5:00 or 12:00 per mile. I wear the same shoes I did heel strike
with just earlier this year. |
|
w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 46 I do all of my runs on my forefoot and that includes the downhill as well.
So naturally the impact is absorbed
by the calfs. But you gotta work on your calf strength in order to handle
that. Throwing your arms forward a
little (as opposed to hammering down on the uphills) also helps with keeping
the balance on the downhill
(especially when you are going fast). |
|
w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 47 It takes a while to adjust the form as well. How you can run also depends on
your relative muscle strength.
Generally you gotta slow down a little bit in five fingers/barefoot, and a
high cadence would help reduce the
stress on the foot. You want to land on your little toe and roll to the big
toe and the entire forefoot.
