摘要——
How can children's natural perceptuo-motor skills be harnessed for teaching
and learning mathematical structure? We address this question in the case of
the integers. Existing research suggests that adult mental representations
of integers recruit perceptuo-motor functionalities involving symmetry.
Building on these findings, we designed a hands-on curriculum that
emphasizes symmetry to teach integer concepts to fourth graders. Compared to
two control conditions, children who went through t... 阅读全帖

Imagine a kindergarten classroom. Picture the vividly colored scalloped

That bright, cheery look has become a familiar sight in classrooms across

A first grade school teacher had twenty-six students in her class. She
presented each child in her classroom the first half of a well-known proverb
and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to

surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are 6-year-olds because
the last one is a classic!

夏天,我们从10分的学区搬到9分的小学。

Did she take a star test recently? The score has some
variations as all tests do. However, I do feel the same
as you about the vocabulary of bilingual kids.
For my son (2nd grader too), since we don't speak
English at home, he does have limitations comparing to
his fellow classmates. I am trying to ask him to use
dictionary when he came across some unknown words. We
asked him to get about 5 new words for every new book.
