乔一关于抑郁症的文章, 理论分析和个人实例相结合， 揭示了很多国人在子女教育方
面忽略的问题. 我深以为然， 觉得她非常勇敢。
在这方面我自己也有很多体会, 尤其当了妈之后, 对整个前半生都不得不重新审视, 经
过四年多的soul searching, 终于有了些大白话的育儿经, 希望能和大家分享.
怎样培养内心强大的孩子？
通俗点讲， 内心强大可以理解为心理素质好， 心态好， 关键时刻直觉敏锐， 胜不骄
败不馁, 不以物喜， 不以己悲， 等等。 这个素质不论对天才还是平庸， 不论选择什
么生活道路， 都是一个人过上幸福生活的关键， 这个大家没异议吧？
大家在这方面都有自己的体会和实践， 很多地方值得我学习， 我自己也是摸着石头过
河， 不敢说我的就是对的。 不过本着求同存异的原则， 我就说说具体操作方面的重
点吧。

这是我认为做父母甚至做人最重要的品质。 真正humble的人懂得实事求是， 知之为知
之， 不知为不知。 了解自己的局限性， 对未知的世界保持敬畏， 同时把这种态度传
授给孩子。

1.分数重要，250最好。
2.现在是follow-up的时候，口语好的打电话，不是很优秀的，写信。
3.US clinical experience是最主要的。最好是hands-on的training。8个月的hands-
on的experience。不要怕碰壁，多找。
4.在clinical experience中要放低自己的位子。把自己当作学生，不要仅仅是一个旁
观者。每次做完都感谢，带些点心。结束的时候一定要写Thank you card。如果对中国
感兴趣，可以open讲讲。
5.letter一定要非常strong，是best。
6.PS：从4月开始就写，长期写作的过程，为何做这行，long goal是啥。
7.照片：一定做到professional，photoshop可以做到最好。最好专业的人拍。
8.准备IV：
(1) 1-2月前到位：make-up，牙齿，衣服，戒子等

语言，而且我显然是这个领域的王牌之一。然而我却看到了这个行业里的无限混沌，让
我觉得喘不过气来。几十年的垃圾设计堆积在那里，却没有人试图把它们清理掉，权威
主义盛行。无论你在哪个公司，哪个地方，只要跟程序员说话，十有八九会谈不来。非
常扫兴不说，甚至感觉很伤自尊。
久而久之我发现了，由于程序员工作的性质，他们受到的“熏陶”，形成了一种行业性
的心理疾病。这里我就简单的把我所观察到的一些症状总结一下。
无自知之明
由于程序员的工作最近几年比较容易找，工资还不错，所以很多程序员往往只看到自己
的肚脐眼，看不到自己在整个社会里的位置其实并不是那么的关键和重要。很多程序员

humble，中国人的谦虚是假的，洋人的humble可是发自内心的敬畏和小心，他们说面试
要阳光但是不可以傲气，好像自己我所不能。他们说国人好攀比，比分数谁搞，比谁用
工最少，你一年，我10个月，他6个月准备，过来的住院医提醒在临床上谁点你？处理
不好就一顿臭骂，头三个月连主治的notes，看不懂，电话听不懂。所以，要humble。 |

1. 分数很重要，250分数要比240拿很多（至少是前期）；
2. 如果分数已经确定，在等IV，可以打电话（口语好），发电子邮件骚扰争取IV;打电
话时，准备好自己的相关信息；
3. 一定要争取clinical experience, 如果不做，拿IV大受影响；
4. 如何拿externership，做好心理准备会碰很多壁，不灰心，创造机会；
5. 发挥中国人优点，尊重代教老师，training结束时，一定要感谢医生以及护士，搞
好关系；
6. Externership，大医院需要很多paperwork，私人诊所不需要；Externership要在推
荐信里体现出来，说明你有hand-on；
7. 做externership和OB时，不要给老师增加麻烦；做人最重要，让对方comfortable；
放低姿态，“I am Dr. X’s student”；

这里有几点我很赞同：
1. “通过关系拿的面试往往不是最容易的面试”—courtesy IV往往给我的错觉很大。
除非超强推荐人，否则还是没戏。
2. “resident是干啥的？就是干活的”---我曾经以为名校有培养业内leader的责任，
在感谢email/卡里还总提“我可能是今年能培养成为scientist-surgeon的最好
candidate，最后会让你们骄傲的”。扯，人家还是首选能尽快上手，不出篓子，能活
络环境的。
3. “Surgeon 都是很nasty的”， 近似于我lab的resident说的“外科attending是最
mean的”
4. “外科口语非常重要”
几点说明：
1. 科研这点对于名校可能有效果（但也不能成为人家拍板决定的主因）；而对社区、
普通大学反倒易招致反感。面试时不要总提科研，否则不搞科研、文章少的中青年面试
官会打低分数，虽然不确定他们打分的决定性。
2. 10个外科IV有点误导大家，有我自身专业的特殊性，如果有申请外科的同学可以私
下与我讨论。

feeling when you interview people. I made the same mistake before but now I
know what is humble and meek, what is inconfident.
Actually most Indians are very good. They are delightful and humble.
American graduates are usually too confident. Chinese are too quiet. And
they have trouble finding topics to continue the talk. |
