因为港口水深不够，游轮停在海中，靠摆渡船上岸, 图中可见两艘摆渡船正在放入海中：
小镇的收入70%靠着 cruise business， 当地限制每天只能允许一艘船靠岸。
此行的主要目的是在雨林里寻找野生动物
见到一只棕熊在河中抓三文鱼。我们一行人除了带队的导游，为了安全还有押后带枪的
猎人，都是当地土著人。

slopes. I think it is important to remember that the snowshoes can react
similar to crampons if you lose control and start sliding a long distance.
Also, snowshoes are too big, less flexible, and reduce the balance and
control on harder snow and ice surfaces. The crampon under the snowshoe
binding and or the snowshoe itself may suddenly catch on an obstacle.
This could cause you to lose more control and even cause an injury |

发帖数: 809 | 5 我问过的所有人，几乎都众口一词的称赞Ruth-Icy Traverse这条线漂亮，周末终于找
了个机会去了。感觉在我目前去过的所有Basic climb里，单就漂亮程度排第三，在去
年的Snowking和上个星期的Eldorado-Austera之后。仅以冰川的壮观程度论，不逊于上
个星期的，可惜没有高山湖，景色也略显单调些。星期五早上不到10点，从Hannegan
Pass TH出发，最开始将近4 miles的路是well maintained trail，沿着河谷缓缓上升
到Hannegan Pass。狭长的河谷里是山上冰川融水汇聚而成的潺潺流水，河谷那一侧是
连成一线的雪峰。一路要跨过几个瀑布，路两边的草甸上是星星点点的野花。
Hannegan Pass还完全被积雪覆盖着，我们去的时候只找到一处露出的溪流补水。正前
方就是Mt Ruth的false summit。我们要先沿着山腰traverse到左边，再从左边山脊上
找路上去。
Traverse 的那一段相对比较陡，不过坡很长，虽然底下是悬崖，但也有足够的时间
self arrest了。开始的一段，左手边是Hannegan Pe |

特别是提到的如何release turn，在雪道不平，或有小雪堆的时候非常有用。还有就是
没有足够lean forward的话，engage turn时很难de-camber the ski，这样release时
候没能利用ski re-camber 时的pop来帮助release和transit。
另外再请教下，early season很多时候都会icy。能不能再请教下icy 的時候的 short
radius turn的方法？不知道前辈们有什么学习的资源可以推荐吗 - 网页，视频，图书
等？我自己是完全不得要领如何从icy的蓝道或黑道比较elegant和efficient的下来。
我只敢在绿道上用很sharp的ski试着large radius carving 【蓝道上的话large
radius carving速度就快的很吓人了】。我自己试着用任何小于ski turn radius的
short radius turn时完全没办法engage turn。是不是还是自己lean forward的问题呢

have better control in icy conditions this year than last year.
Ski in icy condition to me is like ski moguls. Both are equally challenging
and fun at the same time.

是不是最难不好说，但是很有名。难度当然够挑战。silver king上边有两条道最难，
一条叫brain damage，一条叫pinball。我个人感觉pinball应该更难一些。我去年滑了
brain damage，中文叫做脑残。这个跟雪况也很有关系，我能感觉到，如果icy的话，
会很难，因为单板icy陡坡很难停住。那天只是有一点icy，所以不算很难。但是最主要
的问题是我没有具体计算，但是hike过去大概花了45分钟，看你认为值不值了。如果其
他地方都滑腻了，过去看看挺好，如果不敢在脑残下，旁边的很多道下都不难。总的来
说，如果能够很容易access，脑残还是条很有意思的道。
去年春天在crystal多滑了几天。northway双黑总的来说不算很难，当然lift正面我没
机会下。traverse有点多，不是很过瘾。如果要是需要走i5回base，单板特别痛苦。
chair6不错，后山走powder bowl->bear pits很过瘾。前山在lift左右下来也都很有
challenge。

近期或将来去阿拉斯加做参考。
今年(2013)夏天全家（4个大人，两个小孩 4岁和2岁）去阿拉斯加，坐7 天cruise，自
己活动3天。
时间
六，七，八三个月是阿拉斯加最佳的旅游季节。天气比较暖和，日照时间长。但是七八
月份是雨季。尤其是八月。有人在网上说前年8月份有30天在下雨。：）但大多是毛毛
雨，所以8月份去的人不用害怕。因为孩子还小，另外7月还要去Cape Cod Camping，我
们决定六月初去。这个时候天气变暖了，大部分中小学生还没有放假，机票和船票相对
便宜一点。
我有朋友九月去了，据说那儿的秋色很美。如果想其它季节去，可以参考这里的信息。

昨天早上7点，象山花岙岛村村民金师傅下小海时，发现一条4米多长的鲸鱼搁浅在滩涂上，不停地翻腾。面对这么一个三四吨重的大家伙，金师傅赶紧报告村委会，村干部又立即联系象山渔政、公安等部门，整个花岙岛村的村民都在想办法如何营救这条搁浅的鲸鱼。然而，因为潮水不大，截至昨晚10点记者截稿时，这条鲸鱼仍然搁浅在滩涂上。
鲸鱼搁浅的地方距离海水有200多米
网友“Icy影子”昨晚6点多，在微博上发了这条鲸鱼的图片，说村民们在求援，并＠了本报官方微博。记者昨晚几经周折，联系上目击者金师傅。他说，当时就觉得这么大一条鲸鱼搁浅在滩涂，如果不及时采取措施，很可能会死掉。他赶紧给村里报信。

can turn on/off central diff. If it is in the open mode, car swings a little
on black ice. If I turn on central diff, it is hard to tell that there is a

Drove Tahoe 4WD in Quebec for two weeks in winter break. I can turn on/off
4WD on Tahoe. The car was out of control under 20 mph in 2WD mode (try to
save gas). Since then, I switched to 4WD mode all the time. and it never

Personal experience, rating on driving feeling, may vary depending on cars
and road condition:
AWD+snow tires, 100 (baseline);
FWD+snow tires, 70 (main difference happens only moving out from parking
spot, when front wheels trapped in snow);
AWD+4 season, 40 (really icy slope near home, never able to stop at stop
sign);

tested turning in snowy/icy road couple weeks ago (stayed 3 days in snow
storm), actually I was really impressed with the turning of my AWD. From my
experience/experiment, (I am not just reading from others) I am pretty sure
it is much safer for a AWD to turn in snowy/icy road than a 2wd vehicle
which slid almost every time. |

小时还是挺疼,昨天坐了10几个小时的飞机,到的时候感觉还好,晚上睡觉的时候,疼得不
行了(我在cvs买的热敷）,一动都不能动,今天早上起来我改的ice-hot的那种膏药，妈
妈现在感觉好一些了。
我本来要领她去看emergence,也告诉她保险里面cover,但是妈妈觉得麻烦，想等上1，2
天看看，我顺着她的意思约了一个周五的医生，但是觉得还是不踏实，上来问问，应该
不是骨折吧？因为我在这里面查得如果是骨折腰立马叫emergence.

,至少彼此之间应该有诚信、守时等共识，不然的话还真会像我一样不爽。另一条教训
是，如果carpool,一定事先留个联系电话。
气温越来越高了，icy的雪化开的也越来越块，不到中午大多数地方的雪（或者称为冰
渣）都已经很软了，滑起来还是很爽。但下午的雪就已经有些watery了，虽然比fresh
的雪差了一些，但比icy要好多了。
我今年滑雪season到此为止了，买了一次67块的全天的package,另外买了两次easy 1 2
3 package（其实只上过两次课），7次滑下来，已经能在绿道上自由驰骋了，蓝道 也
能应付一气了。感觉已经掌握了所有的基本技巧（其实滑雪的最基本的技能还是转弯，
弯转的自如了，多难的道都不是问题，我是指downhill,crosscountry的经验还没有）
，接下来就是不断的重复、提高了。
来美国的第一年能有如此收获，我已经非常满意了。接下来的周末准备把荒废了的羽毛
球再捡起来。不知哪位大侠能告诉一下买球拍的地方。我有一幅非常好的牌子，只可惜
留在了国内，又担心寄过 |

约了朋友来家做客吃饭，早上问她还来不来了，她说来，她不怕下雪，我说路很icy的
，她说她icy的路开过，没关系。天，其实我不想她来了，出了事故怎么办，我好怕怕
。。。她来我家要开一个小时高速。唉。。。年轻人啊。 |

who vanished early Monday while descending Mount Hood.
Authorities located the body of Jared Townsley, a 32-year-old married father
of two from Tigard.
A helicopter with the Oregon Army National Guard has airlifted the climber's

pulled from the icy waters of Stephens Passage, Alaska by a group of locals
on Tom Satre's 62-foot charter vessel. Four juvenile Sitka black-tailed deer
swam directly toward the boat.
Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking

发帖数: 379 | 44 周末一起爬Shuksan的九个人里，Vineeth、Sean和我都是去年同一个周末被从Shuksan
的trailhead一路浇到high camp，再一路浇回来的难友，不过今年这个周末的天气预报
看起来不错。星期六踩着八点钟ranger station开门的点去领permit，还有一个4个日
本人的队伍和我们差不多时候到。现在Shuksan的permit有限制了，一次只发6个group
，还是所有线路合在一起算的，这个周末的所有permit都已经被预订了，不过有两个的
还没来取，ranger让我们等等，说打电话帮我们问问。等了有半个多小时吧，都在商量
改走Baker的Boulder了，ranger告知那两个group都出了点问题来不了了，于是我们和
那个日本人的队伍一队领了一个permit，皆大欢喜。
大概十点半从trailhead出发的。很小的parking lot，车子都停满了，别看地方很偏，
还真有ranger专门来检查parking permit的... 四面全是云啊，低低的包围着，什么都
看不到，又让我们联想起去年的悲惨经历，NOAA真是越来越不乖了:-( 一开始1.5
