据英国《每日邮报》8月5日报道，来自美国加州萨利纳斯的布里奇安妮·阿维尼翁日前
为美国43位总统创建家族树，其中42位都是13世纪英国国王约翰的后裔，只有美国第八
位总统马丁·范布伦与约翰王家系无关，但范布伦拥有荷兰王室血统。
报道称，阿维尼翁为了追踪美国历任领导人的血统，花了数个月时间搜索了50多万个人
名。她从美国第一位总统乔治·华盛顿开始，追踪所有总统的男性和女性祖先联系。她
发现除了范布伦外，所有美国总统都是英王约翰的后裔。此前，遗传学家们最多只将美
国22位总统的亲戚关系联系起来，他们主要追踪这些家族的男性成员。

Posmodern Times: A Christian Guide to Contemporary Thought and Culture
在Amonzon上有卖的，此书的第一部分讲了promodern， modern 和postmodern， 以及
这几个时代之间的哲学过渡，好好读读，很有意思。MM信奉天主教，可以把她转晕。
如果再想装的很前卫，Edward Said 的书也可以一用，肯定把MM侃晕。Culture and
Imperialism， 这个书里面，你可以借用其Impererialism的概念，把马克思主义融入
进去，以此可以顺理成章的贩卖你的小将理论。

的革新教会，东北有些圣公教的余孽。如果是天主教一般都说自己是catholic了。正教
信的人比较少。
其实天主教也有一堆分支。中国人接触多的耶稣教，就是jesuit，是到处创办学校的分
支。因为在中国办了很多大学，所以国人知道。jesuit的总部在骡马的gasu,就在离海

地的中文，包括文言文与民间文学的白话文，和我们的关系日渐生疏，而英文的影响，
无论来自直接的学习或是间接的潜移默化，则日渐显著，因此一般人笔下的白话文，西
化的病态日渐严重。一般人从大众传媒学到的，不仅是流行的观念，还有那些观念赖以
包装的种种说法；有时，那些说法连高明之士也抗拒不了。今日的中文虽因地区不同而
互见差异，但共同的趋势都是繁琐与生硬，例如中文本来是说「因此」，现在不少人却
爱说「基于这个原因」；本来是说「问题很多」，现在不少人却爱说「有很多问题存在
」。对于这种化简为繁、以拙代巧的趋势，有心人如果不及时提出警告，我们的中文势
必越变越差，而地道中文原有的那种美德，那种简洁而又灵活的语文生态，也必将面目

自五四新文化运动以来，七十年间，中文的变化极大。一方面，优秀的作家与学者
笔下的白话文愈写愈成熟，无论表情达意或是分析事理，都能运用自如。另一方面，道
地的中文，包括文言文与民间文学的白话文，和我们的关系日渐生疏，而英文的影响，
无论来自直接的学习或是间接的潜移默化，则日渐显著，因此一般人笔下的白话文，西
化的病态日渐严重。一般人从大众传媒学到的，不仅是流行的观念，还有那些观念赖以
包装的种种说法；有时，那些说法连高明之士也抗拒不了。今日的中文虽因地区不同而
互见差异，但共同的趋势都是繁琐与生硬，例如中文本来是说「因此」，现在不少人却
爱说「基于这个原因」；本来是说「问题很多」，现在不少人却爱说「有很多问题存在

Why do so many Chinese study physics and math relative to Americans?
The answer may be similar to why Germans, Swiss and Danes studied physics
and math, relative to Americans, prior to WWII.
That being, a long history of intellectual cultures in those other countries
and the lack of one here.
