manager，很多公司里的team manager本身就是技术大拿而且是全面的，因为他需要指
导手下所有工程师的项目，有的工程师反而只接触部分特定领域的项目，而team
manager需要熟悉手下所有工程师涉及的领域，如果工程师比manager懂的还多，那
manager还指导个屁啊。 |

她签了3个月的listing contract,management contract 据她说是跟租期挂钩，但我没
有看到这一条在managment contract里。managment contract 里有提到，如果我跟她
提前中断合约，我要给她一个月的租金，还有40前的notice,但合约里没有提到，如果
是她提前中断合约会怎样。但是，合约里只有她的签名，没有我父母的签名。我们只签
了listing contract, 还有跟租客的合约（里面有提到property manager 所在的公司
代理我们的房子）。现在问题是这个property manager态度非常不好，还经常擅自做一
些维修，然后给我寄账单要我付钱。也不跟我商量一下，那些维修是不是有必要的。更
过分的是竟然擅自把我们的门锁换了，也不给我一套钥匙。我感觉就是，她就借此刮钱

funds for others just for the sake of his own legacy, then, at least, he
does not really have to "serve" his customers. I mean, the guy is probably
much richer and free-er than his customers. Yes, the customers did pay

的。但是有很大一批active managed fund的历史并不长，一两年干的好就可以浑水摸
鱼。
还有就是很好的fund一般都被大机构投资者独占了，一般投资者也很难进去。08年金融
危机又给打着对冲避险基金旗号的很多fund一记闷棍。基于这样的考虑，index ETF就
开始受欢迎了。

老公国内在软件外包公司做过几年的 manager，做的还不错。刚来美后找工作没找到（
主要找的PM的职位），现在在读 master。。。
他的想法是 毕业了还主要找manager的位置，coding和manager在美国都是一样的，不
同的方向而已，manager不比coding好。。。。
我的想法 我不觉的manager的位置好找。。。人家美国人凭啥让你一个外国人还没本国
工作经验的 做manager，趁上学多练练coding （以前做管理，coding少），到时候毕
业还多些选择。。。
不知道大家怎么看manager这个位置，总觉得他的想法不对。。。他又不听我的。。。

Product Manager 做的有点偏市场销售，但是还是不够劲哈。貌似做MARKETING
MANAGER是一条出路？

or sr marketing manager etc.
all can be lvl 7, or lvl 6 in subsidiary. Many product managers have no
directs but some do.
lvl7 has a wide comp range. really depends on the team and your background,
and how badly the team wants you.

Comp range不知道，不同的role同级别都能差很多。甚至可以没有overlap

linkedin就是很好的例子。manage pip下面老中，下面反抗，manager被干掉。lucky88
可能会说pip你你不反抗不就行了吗？
必须改变这种状况，使manager和下面的人利益一致，才能双赢。
作为manager，显然要比下面的人付出更大的努力，下面的人只需要把螺丝拧好。而
manager要懂得如何使用人，如何把下面的人团结起来。不要看见一个不顺眼的就想把
人家搞掉。下面的人是什么性格，给他安排个什么样的活，而不是凭喜好安排，不喜欢
一个人就安排烂活，喜欢一个人就安排好活。这样做下去一定是双输局面。即使想搞掉

看看烙印老白是怎么做的，到一个公司，立刻拉拢一堆自己的人。而有些老中manager

了2.5了，要我要不就悄悄走了，要是实在气不过，就实话实说要manager override胖
子到2.5然后用3张，然后告小二白痴。占便宜的这种事是ymmv的，不要太较真了，咱搞
deal是为了开心省钱，不是为了找气哈。
还有啊，这个事情虽然manager态度不好，但是你也不在理，这个事情你就算告到cvs总
部都告不赢，只能让Cvs总部意识到系统有漏洞，然后严加防范，对你一点好处都没有
。而且cvs manager有权利决定收不收你胖子。所以manager在的时候真的是要低调啊，
不然以后的Deal都不好搞了。
另外，还有一个非常重要的事情：这个manager如果真的要较真，叫警察把你带走了，
那你也是理亏的一方，得认倒霉。而且她如果够狠，可以File Restraining Order，让
你以后都不准来她的店。真的要到了这一步，对谁都没好处。所以mm以后一定得多加小

据我所知，至少根据我在国内的IT行业的经验，project manager都是一线技术人员升
上去的。project manager基本上都是一线管理人员，还轮不到只懂management不懂技
术的人来空降。project manager毕竟不是product manager。
10年前，国内IT行业的人说搞技术的都干不过30年，那就是因为稍微做过5年的人都升

有大概一年多，一直让一个junior 的engineer 代理team lead，小伙子干的不错。我
的title 是 senior engineer, 但是organize chart 是 team lead report给我。
manager A 我报道前一天突然辞职，我一上班，整个local office 都是六神无主。由
manager A 的副手代管。整个office 还是按照我来之前的运转，也没有人report 给我
。就这样运转了半年，manager A 的副手前两天扶正为office manager，又突然病倒了
一个月。这个年终总结，临时由regional manager飞过来做。这个regional manager
有点二，头脑不清楚。我没想清楚怎么去谈。 |

有的组里，senior xxx的收入比manager还高。是因为那个manager并不是那个senior的
老板，他们可能都向同一个director汇报。这个manager管得不是人，而是事，其实就
是干一些project management的事而已。开会时senior可能还要向manager汇报工作的
进度等等，但senior并不是manager的手下。
真正的上下级关系，应该是organizational chart里标明的上下级的关系。你的上级就
是那个年终给你performance review，决定你是outstanding, 还是underperformed的
人，决定你今年工资涨多少，奖金拿多少的人。你觉得他的工资会比你低吗？
所以说manager这个说法太含糊了。如果是只管事的，收入并不一定高。但如果是真正
管人的，一定比手下高。我还没见过像我说得人事管理上的上级收入低于下级的。 |

1. Sr. Manager vs. Director title...每个公司豆油自己的hierarchy. 比如, Dell
的Director, 到了Amazon一般都是Sr. Manager. 微软的有些Sr. Manager, 其实就是比
较Senior 的Individual Contributor, 到了Amazon, 其实应该比你的这个Sr. Manager
还要低两级. 怎么比, 总的年收入就是一个很好的indicator. 如果你能拿到$250K, 可
能和中西部的$200K略微持平或好一点.不过话说回来, 有个Director title找工作时比
Sr. Manager有优势... 因为HR不怎么懂, 筛选简历时,大多只拿title比.
2. Sr. Manager应该还算干具体事的. 只要拼命干肯定能出成绩. 干好了1-3年再往上
就是Director. Amazon对这种级别的expectation非常高. 出不了成绩,走人是很简单的

experienced何谈manager？
当然让你重新带刚入职的码工小组那个算manager的话我就不争了，我想那个充其量也
就是Sr码工带小马工实习吧。
换到其他行业就更难了，机械，土木甚至EE这些行业，很多设计问题也都是经验积累，
三年后人家就让你做管理？5年后才算是Sr engineer吧，才有资格带刚入职的新员工。
换到其他大规模集约型的工种，那也不是manager还就是个熟练工而已，你要非说你能
干manager那国内7、80人的大组里面，一个postdoc带20个研究生也算挺大的manager了
，但是他自己敢说已经是manager的了吗?
我觉得无论中国美国7年后能够公司掏钱让你学出来一个MBA，带一个小组里面不全是刚
入职的新员工，能够稍微参与产品要不要做的决策就很不错了，但是这也就是个entry
level manager的水平。 |

作量很大，工资还过得去，这个工作绝对能锻炼人啊，跟着General manager每天要处
理那么多事，这也是我要来这个公司的目的。我也知道General manager的秘书在很多
人眼里都会被当成被包养的人来看待，反正我觉得我个人为人正直，身正不怕影子斜，
可我还是低估了同事们的流言蜚语，我才刚上班没多久基本上全公司的人都在传言我跟
General manager好上了，被General manager包养了，现在我们俩在纽约哪个哪个别墅
住，我真想骂她们一顿，你到底哪个眼睛眼睛我被他包了。是，我是发现他有点想赚便
宜的意思，可我不会那样，我有自己的男朋友，我也不想被包养。我们General
manager也不是什么好人，故意放出一些我被包养的信号让别人看见，晚上下班有时候

力，执行力，要让手下团结一心，也要让周围环境和上级充分support。
管理能力属于商学院范畴，专家和业界专注研究出的成果+打破案例框架活学活用。学
一下还是不一样。
managment离不开兴趣+乐趣。manager品德也很重要。一个懂管理的manager很快会跳离
多2w的级别而迅速提升的更高的岗位上去，变成业界抢手的宝贝。managment的高级境
界是meeting很少，大家都有默契。
即懂管理，又懂技术的manager少，好公司里有，多数manager都是，硬被提拔上去的，
土法炼钢，自己一边干一边摸索出一些错误结论。市面上还有骗子职业经理人。
不称职的经理常以权谋私，并且把team搞得鸡飞狗跳人心惶惶，这类公司也大多上梁不
正下梁歪，劝对这方面没天分的人还是手下留情的比较好. |

个机会去一家Sell side top-ranked (top 5) research team做quant equity

Consulting manager: 职位高，大老板比较赏识，上升空间比较大。小地方，钱相对来
