望自己能写下来有个记忆，但是由于总是觉得文笔太差，加上懒，竟然无一写下来。后
来随着时光流逝，很多鲜活的记忆竟然也逐渐模糊起来了。所以这次还是逼自己无论如
何写点东西留给自己－－其实完全是流水帐，文笔实在太差。后来好几个朋友问到，如
果我们的旅程能对后来者有点借鉴作用，也算是第二个作用了。
第一天 (12月22日)出发
东部时间5点多的飞机,预定到LV是当地时间下午9:40,但是由于飞机晚点,加上租车公司
是FOX,要倒2次Shuttle才到,比较折腾,所以到了旅馆check in已经是西部时间12点多,
东部时间3点多了,非常困。下次要飞到LV 或CA还是尽量早点出发早点到达。
租FOX的车是因为他家比较便宜，之前又不知道他的地点这么偏。取车时咨询upgrade,
结果他有一辆4驱的吉普 (Wrangler)，想想要开山路，而且不知道是否有雪，还是加了
些钱从compact升级到4驱。8天税后才190刀，不过非常耗油。

发帖数: 41 | 3 8号目标是Canyonlands national park，距离bryce大概有300mi，开了4小时多一点，
所以到时下午一点了。Canyonlands很大，有三部分，Island in the sky, the
needles and the maze，还入口都不同。相对于其他公园来说，应该是最remote的，在
visitor center时，连介绍片想看还得点播，真要好好玩，不仅得有辆经抗的车，还得
带好宿营装备，这次是没机会了，就准备在Island in the sky几个推荐景点体会一下
。先去的mesa arch，需要走0.5mi trail，石拱桥本身觉得还好，特别是和后来的
arches公园相比，但关键是从拱桥透过去看到的景色，真是island in the sky， 一望
无际的红黑色的荒芜一片，像是在另类的天空一样。Green river overlook没觉得有什
么特别。倒是Grand view point overlook很震撼，一个像巨大手掌一样的大沟壑印在
那荒芜一片上，难道是天神一怒之下打上去的？！最后目的地是走一下upheaval dome

Newfound gap
位于贯穿大雾山南北的441公路中间，这里的Gap是指山脊上的低点，海拔只有5046
feet，和Clingmans Dome海拔相差甚远，距离却只有7迈。1872年以前，Indian Gap（
在Newfound Gap西边1.5迈）一直被认为是最低的，直到瑞士地理学者Arnold Henry
Guyot用气压计测出这里更低，所以一拍脑袋就叫Newfound gap，至于为什么不以自己
的名字命名是因为人家的名字已经用在了大雾山的第二高峰Mount Guyot上。Newfound
gap有restroom，大观景台和大停车场，可以欣赏开阔的mountain view。

选在11月中旬,旅游淡季.在大岛呆了五个白天，进出都是在西边的Kona机场，Waikoloa
呆了两晚，Hilo两晚，Kailua-Kona一晚。时间如果紧的话行程还可压缩，见最后的三
日精华游安排。当然既然是度假，一般没必要那么赶，即使在酒店呆上一整天游泳晒太
阳也挺好。

发帖数: 399 | 8 九月之后的日子真是是很难过，先是苦巴巴的等invitation，一共才来了五个。
9/13， 9/17, the beginging of Oct, 11 月初两个，因为不少考友之前给我很多鼓励
，我也自信心膨胀，所以对5个iv 很沮丧。开始还组建了个西岸iv练习小组，后来自己
也没心情搞了。
第一个面试10/18觉得不错，staten island，也有second visit，但是不提供prematch。
第二个面试 11/16 york 也还好，非常relaxed 的program， 但是家人不想去那里，也
没有prematch的，写了两封陶瓷信，都会得不错，but who knows。
比较郁闷的是11/30的kingsbrook，和12/2 号的overlook，两个都是提供prematch 的
program，我还是没中。
这时网上已有不少prematch了，非常担心， 开始反省原因，kingsbrook 那个我就不说
了，实在是5分钟的面试，我也不知道败在哪里，只是看了amma 的post， 意识到

其次是，打牌这种活动不符合她心目中完美男人的标准，打牌作为放松和怡情并无不可，
但一则不是什么特上进的活动，二则有沉迷的可能性，她是在未雨绸缪。

1. 公司指定的律所是吃货，我放任自流，我活该。。。。看到petition letter后，我

11月2号先到的Las Vegas，机场旁边有个Walmart，穷人是坚决不会到大峡谷去挨宰的
，我们就直接采购去Grand Canyon的水和食物了，这样也节省时间明天可以车上解决早
饭直接出发。去大峡谷水一定要带够，这两个地方都干，小心被晒成bacon哦。我们三
个人24瓶水差不多都喝完了，而且都没有走trail的，另外一定要注意补水和防晒，男
生也不例外，有坚持不涂防晒霜想装man的帅哥脸上被晒出个大墨镜的惨痛教训。第一
天晚上就从LV歇下了。

了。我们去了overlook 1,2,3还下到了吊桥上。景色还可以。

我们看yelp上评分4.5就去了，结果4个人花了45刀只吃了半饱，也不好吃。 |

本人女，mph 在读，目前居住在indianapolis canal overlook。这间公寓于12月底
Lease到期，目前寻找一位女生与我同租这间公寓。这间公寓 2 bedrooms，两个独立卫
生间，客厅厨房都很大。月租金1060$，水免费，平摊网费与电费。基本费用大概每人
一个月600，不含吃饭出行。
canal overlook公寓距离学校步行只需3分钟左右，非常近，附近有超市，银行，距
离市中心也非常近，购物生活都非常方便，均在步行能够接受的范围内，不超过10分钟
的步行时间。公寓内中国学生也很多。
公寓条件不错，两间卧室都很大，足够装下king size的大床，加上书桌书架椅子等
等，衣帽间也足够大，足够装下衣服鞋子和大的行李箱。房间向阳，每天都会有一定的
日照时间，但是不是太阳直射。卫生间也很大，每一层有公共的洗衣间。顶层有免费健
身房，地下及一层有车库。公寓治安很好，入口大厅有监控录像，并且所有房客都有磁
卡才可进入公寓内部。
这个公寓适合刚来这边没有买车或暂时没有买车打算的学生居住。

Hiking.
Los Liones Trail to Parker Mesa Overlook 是一条中等长度、易走而风景不错的道
,下部的山沟里空气清凉，植被茂密，上面则有辽阔的海景。全程来回一共 7迈左右, 爬
升 1300ft。

下午去 Santa Monica 和 Venice Beach 海边散步， 浏览各种街头杂耍， 或者Biking

发帖数: 4509 | 43 9mi 中的大部分是那个 6mi 的酱油 loop，他们去 boney mountain 的那段路单程还不
到 1mi。看说明这帮人上上下下爬了附近好几个 peak 才有了 9mi/2500ft 的数据。走
野路也是他们自己的选择，并非必要。
他们爬的 Boney Peak 其实就在 Sandstone Peak 边上，是下了 sandstone peak 后爬
的第一个peak，是需要 rock climbing 的。这个 boney peak 的位置在 NPS 的地图上
看得很清楚：

后来他们爬完 Exchange Peak 以后要找的 Boney Mountain 是另一座山峰，他们走到
山脚下以后没找到上山的路（注意这帮人是 rock climber!），就转头去爬 Tri Peaks
去了。我在网上搜了一下 Boney Mountain，连 rock climbing 的信息都很少，更不
用说 hiking 了。

标 题: 二进Southwest总结,以及关于摄影器材的感想

三月底，和两个同为风光摄影爱好者的朋友相约再次来到Southwest的Utah/Arizona，
进行了为期3天的高强度深度摄影游。整个3天，一共睡了9个小时，平均每天徒步10
mile以上。尽管行程紧张，但是饱览了一些人迹罕至的美景，实在是终身难忘。分享一
些拍摄的照片以及对器材的实践经验。照片都是初稿，有几张还有不少问题，还需要仔
细推敲再处理，欢迎宝贵意见。

发帖数: 269 | 47 如果你想买新房子，这个基本上上就是你在highland Park的唯一选择了。
给你科普一下，这批房子是Pulte建的，Pulte是美国一个比较著名的builder，Centex
都被它给吞并了。虽然网上也有不少对Pulte的负面评价（其实没有一个builder没有负
面评价的），当我本人非常信赖Pulte的建筑质量，譬如我现在居住的和以前来美买的
第一房子都是Pulte建的。Pulte对小区的建设也很不错，现在看上去还是工地，等房子
全部建完以后，还是挺漂亮的。
现在的这个Pulte在建房小区名为The Crossings at Highland Park，在铁路的东面，
而在铁路桥的西面有片3年前Pulte建的房，名为Overlook at Highland Park，地势要
比现在的小区高，离铁路线也远一些。铁路的确有噪音问题，但我个人觉得可以接受，
不过也得因人而异。
既然新手买房，我的个人建议是越新越好（虽然有人会有不同的意见），而且建议你去
这2个小区都看一看（Overlook at Highland Park已经全部建完，所以只有旧房子在卖
，但也都3-4新）。
