哎。。本来精算作为一个profession就比较小众。。还吵来吵去的。。合并不合并其实
要我说没啥影响。。外行本来连FSA都会以为是financial statement analyst。。怎么
可能搞清楚两个title的区别。。内行P&C和Life本来也井水不犯河水。。统一起来更容
易market精算这个profession

health才真是specialty。domain knowledge要求非常多,regulation, policy层出不
穷,ACA pricing, Medicare Advantage part C and D bidding, medicaid bidding,
不光自己定价,还要准确估测市场和对手定价不然有可能contract都拿不到,从这点来
说,risk比life, P&C都大。整个医疗系统日新月异,联邦,地方政府,医院,保险公
司,所有都在changing mode。 Life 和P&C的change 相比小多了。ACO 等等各式各样
的initiatives, 多如牛毛, pay for value 又在改变传统的payment 方式,这些
complexity, life, P&C通通没有。光看采用的数学模型的复杂与否来觉得是否
specialize, 未免太狭隘。
扯远了,CAS并入SOA是趋势。SOA在世界范围内的扩张比CAS大多了。 本来就不是一个

首先我要声明几点:
1.写这个帖子不是针对ArtyArty。只是这些年见过猪跑,也吃过猪肉,这些言论我太熟
悉了。在此借ArtyArty的发言总结一下,给找postdoc的人一个参考。我当时差点被坑
死了,不想别人走我老路。
2.这种逻辑不是CAP特有的,但是在CAP身上显著enrich--也就是说,你找了CAP,中招
的可能性最大。
3.仔细考虑了一下这是不是所谓的负能量贴,最后觉得不是。echowuhao说了,学生物
也得学做人,第一就是要诚实。发这种得罪人的帖子,对我自己其实浪费时间也没好处。
4.我不是要把CAP赶尽杀绝。观其言,察其行,认识到烂的,好的CAP自然有人识货。
5.旧社会把人变成鬼。>90%的生物博士是不适合在这个恶劣的行业继续走下去的。想要
翻身把歌唱,请移步生物转行俱乐部。

1. CAP说话的可信度很低。找工作时,不要把中国传统的尊师重教情节带到跟PI的交流
中。PI其实就是个service的职业,找postdoc就是找labor,一人出钱,一人干活。你

The results of the latest MetLife Survey of the American Teacher confirm
what many of us are experiencing and seeing in the depressing descent of the
teaching profession.
In the past two years, the percentage of teachers surveyed who reported
being very satisfied in their jobs has declined sharply, from 59 percent to
44 percent.

one of my english professor once told the class that in English Literature
profession, there is a somewhat extreme yet not-so-inaccurate method of
judging the value of the works in (english) literature, ie the more popular
the work is with people, the less value in literature it has. So "Gone With
The Wind" is at most 2nd-rated novel. I think it's pretty safe to extend this
to Qiong Yao, Jin Yong etc.

Sure, it is true for all profession service firms as well as private
companies. Not even single one could dodge from the economic recession given
the global integration of today's business world, except those war industries.
One point that I would like to draw hereby - it's very surprising to see how

I agree with littlenorth.
Many of what FallenEmbers said in his original post are true, and are
reasonable precautions to people who are contemplating about going to law
school. However, littlenorth's corrections of certain statements are also
absolutely true. FallenEmbers, you may not know some of these facts because
of your unique position as an in-house counsel rather than working as an
associate in a biglaw firm, so I do not begrudge you about it.

Q: Why go to law school if you can work on wall street?
A: Is this a joke? This question seems retarded. Obviously, the answer
depends on what you want to do for your life. If you want to be a banker,
work on wall street. If lawyer, go to law school. Income should not be a
significant factor. Think what will make you happy. You can make enough
money at many professions, but not all professions will make you happy.

My two cents: take the LSAT first and spend some time preparing for the test
. You need give your best shot. Even if you eventually decide not to go to
law school, LSAT preparation can still somewhat help you improve your
reading and crtitical thinking skills. At the same time, you can either sit
in a few law school classes or do some patent-related work to see if you
actually enjoy law, but remember that studying law is very different from

医学教育,住院医生培训体制和学位制度的改革,医疗改革就解决不了合格的医疗人才
从哪里来的问题。没有合格的医疗人才就不可能有医生社会地位和收入的提高。中国整
体医疗水平低下是一个世界范围内没有争议的问题。而这一问题又和高等医学教育,住
院医生培训体制和学位制度息息相关。这也导致了对外国医生准入门栏极低(甚至没有
语言关),和美国形成了鲜明对比。

give doctor the license to treat people's illnesses as goldmines.
(2) Private insurances need to answer to their shareholders/owners. If Medicare is reducing payment, private insurances are not going to give doctors a free ride but are going to reduce payment to doctors as well. promotions or become a clinical specialist

profession of pharmacy and the profession of nursing. don't get me wrong, i

never found the job of a pharmacist to be boring even though John from this
board thinks it's one of the most boring jobs, hehe.

Pharmacist is a service profession. If you have a passion to use your
knowledge to provide the best service to Patient, You are in the right
profession. You will not be famous or somebody. You are only one of the
members of health care. There are millions of them. If you love it, Then go
for it. If not,Stay where you are. If you are pharmacy major in China. You

Your prediction about market saturation is being realized for sure. Whether
pharmacy itself as a profession is BAD or NOT is debatable. In some way,
words from people like you (many more on the SDN forum) helped me by warning
me of the potential difficulty in finding jobs after graduation, I worked
very hard at my intern position while paid slightly less attention to
anything else the last few years.

此人篡改法律的劲头挺大的,把美国的法律当自己家门口的黑板了,随擦随写。
上网搜索这次加州的事件,实在是没有任何非中文的谋体报道,除了一个白人至上组织
的网站提了一句。又一个主流谋体选择性集体失语。可怜的亚洲人!看来要出点大事,
才能会有动静。

My personal viewpoint is this.
Really it does not matter to college or technical schools, as long as they
are referred as adults vs juveniles.
Let me ask you another question which one you want to choose:
(1) Mediocre skills with good merits;
(2) Talented bad guy.
That is what I am trying to say, sponsorship/assistance is just a means but
the objective is to make them responsible and serving the society. How they
would choose the profession depends on their strengths and interests.
