原理上，这种选票机就是一台metrology tool. 从工业metrology tool的标准测试流程
是测试repeability和reproducibility，也就是每台机器的反复测试和不同机器的对同
样sample的测试。
既然这样，用什么sample测试多台选票机呢？人工做大量的票太花时间，最好的办法就
是用已经寄来选票最合适，然后用这些选票在每台机器上重复。这些选票不一定是全部
邮寄的选票，但sample已经很大了。由于是多台机器的反复测试结果，全部票数很可能
超过pre-vote的人数，但统计的百分比却是真确的。

现今的科学研究是必须要reproducible才被认可，事实上有时候还要多方的可重复性才
会认可，但是对于历史呢？你需要的是去考察更有可能是什么样的，所以圣经的作者，

1. 西方有很强的宗教历史，认为造人（包括从出生上改造人） 是上帝的意志，人类是
不能touch 这点的。
2. 风险之大，无法控制。 尤其是涉及到可以reproduce的风险，会无限放大，有可能
对社会造成无限大 的危害。 而你又没有符合当今世界伦理，法律规范的解决办法。
3. 有可能对实验个体（人）造成终生的痛苦
4. 也是最现实的一点 ------ 弄不好，甚至能好了都会被告到破产，相关各方都会被

多年以前我有一辆Honda Civic（1984年车型），经常在traffic light停完后启动时，
会熄火，造成很多embarrassment。一开始我以为是自己开车技术不好（这辆车是手动
换档，5-speed)。后来发现这车熄火已经形成规律了：每天早上班的时候表现如此，不
但熄火，而且加速时有hesitation。
那时老认为Honda dealer一定很贵，我修不起，所以找很便宜的车行修。总是修不好；
每次他们都说：We can't reproduce the problem；或者干脆撒谎说：Your problem
is fixed. 这个熄火的问题，对我来说，就是一个疑难问题。

之前的刹不住车事故都推在脚垫上，实际上是因为查不出真正的原因。其实不难理解，
汽车是个很复杂的系统，就像计算机一样，如果出了故障可能是由于组合原因造成的。
如果单测刹车、加速系统，它永远是好的，因为那已经是严格测试过的。
搞软件的都熟悉，如果要改一个bug，就要先再现（reproduce）这个bug，然后就好分
析问题在哪。举个例说我们的软件卖给客户后，突然接到客户的投诉说运行崩溃了。我
们怎么也再现不出来，就问他是怎么用的。他说先运行了IE,然后再运行我们的软件就
不行了。但是他没告诉我们他在IE上访问了个黄色网站，那个网站要他安装个小插件才

rip itself off the chassis. I've taken it to the dealership and multiple
mechanics who won't get in the car long enough to feel the problem, so it
hasn't been reproduced for a professional. |
