邀，第一次出现在中国公众面前，以“我对数学的理解”为题发表演讲。现场座无虚席
，人群挤满除讲台之外的每一寸地面。
爱因斯坦曾说：“我无法容忍这样的科学家，他们找来一块木板，在最薄的地方钻出许
多孔。”而张益唐是专门找最厚的地方来钻孔的人。
就是这样一个喜欢自我挑战的数学家，非但没有稳定的研究席位，还曾一度“流浪”美
国各州，不时借住朋友家中，靠打零工为生。成名时，他已58岁。
他从未妥协：既没有向艰难的学术之路妥协，更没有向世俗妥协。
公众对张益唐的兴趣大多源于他跌宕起伏的人生，人们最容易问的就是：8年“流浪”
生涯和50多岁才得到临时讲师工作的清苦生活，他是怎么熬过来的？而从事科学研究的
很多学生则想问，长时间思考一个很难的问题而迟迟没有进展，难道他不为拿不出论文
而焦虑吗？

受到花花大侠的撞车指南的启发，我觉得写个餐馆指南，尤其现在每天面临失业的压力
，不知道还能在休斯顿呆多久，我就先攒点人品，造福群众。以后大家来休斯顿，也可
以多点选择，不必总是去中国城吃饭。相信中国城地区的餐厅大家都知道，这里我就不
赘述了，只说其他国家地区和风味的。我只说 authentic & exotic 的餐厅。厨师一定
要是那个国家的，服务员说着带有那个国家口音的英语，最好连帮你停车的小哥哥都是
那个国家来的。每个餐厅的具体地点大家自己去 Google ，我也不慢慢打了。
先做背景介绍。 Houston ，休斯顿 是美国第 4 大城市（前三名依次为纽约，洛杉矶
，芝加哥）。火箭城位于 Harris County 中心，也是 Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown
组成的大都会地区的经济中心。这是美国第 6 大的大都会地区，总计人口约为 6 百
万。由于石油工业和航运工业，休斯顿地区的人口组成非常多样化，各个国家的移民和
临时务工人员都有，人口的多样性也给休斯顿带来很多充满异国情调的菜馆。

日本出生，在美国长大，16岁进普林斯顿，23岁拿到数学博士，然后回日本教书，本来
也是数学界公认大有前途的天才新秀之一。沉寂多年后，去年他突然在网上贴出一系列
论文，说是证出了ABC Conjecture。那是数论里最重要的猜想之一，如果真地证出来了
，数学里其它一些很难的猜想就会成为自然而然的结果，包括90年代Andrew Wiles吭哧
吭哧证出来的费马大定理。数学界起初感觉就像又碰到了一个Perelman，大为振奋，虽

的事情，本文就來研究一下永生是怎麼回事， 以基督教的永生為例子。 這裡不討論到
底永生可不可能， 或者什麼是得到永生的方法。 當然， 我毫無困難的承認以下說的
都受限於作者的想像力 ， 就如企盼永生的人不也是用人類的想像力嗎?
因為沒有一個已經得到永生的人給我們第一手消息， 我們只好努力做些合理的猜測,
猜測永生的境界是怎麼回事。 為方便起見， 我們稱這個永生以後居住的地方叫天堂，
永生之前的生命叫今生。
假設一： 永生的你還是你，你保有全部有關永生之前的記憶，你記得你的親人朋友。
如果你什麼都不記得，或者有些記憶被抹去， 這永生的應該已經不是你了。 你也保留
許多今生的喜惡以及個性， 改變是會有的，不會是徹底的改變， 總之你還是你， 不
是喝過孟婆湯什麼都不記得的再造人。
假設二： 人進入天堂是永遠的，被判定進天堂的永遠留在天堂， 進不去天堂也是永遠
的， 被判定不能進天堂的永遠進不了。 而進不了天堂的， 不是被徹底消滅， 就是在
一個可怖的地獄中被酷刑折磨著。
