Pentagon Loses War to Zap Airborne Laser From Budget
The Airborne Laser would seem to be a viable target. It isn't nearly
powerful enough to hit far-away launch sites. The aircraft is essentially
a flying chemical plant, its interior filled with vats of toxic materials
used to power the laser.
Mr. Gates said in 2009 that a fully operational Airborne Laser fleet would
require 10 to 20 heavily modified 747s, each costing a billion and a half
dollars to build.

如果按照西方妓者的思维模式,完全可以把WSJ和高盛的数据拿来,证明美国的金牌数
已经在统计的3个标准方差之外,概率不到百分之一。所以美国要不是中头彩了,就是
服兴奋剂或玩猫腻了。这比他们对叶诗文的推理有说服力多了(1000 Monte Carlo

中国的官方外汇储备突破了2万亿美元,却是一件令人发愁的事,这也印证了物极必反
的道理,少了不行,多了更麻烦。特别是金融危机以来,中国巨额的外汇储备面临着美
元贬值带来的缩水压力,不但官方一直在呼吁超主权货币,试图跳出美元陷阱,很多学
者和公众的建议也是铺天盖地。
但或许这些都只是单相思。因为外汇储备和财政收入不同,它不是政府的财富,赚了也
只是货币管理当局-中央银行自身的收益,赔了则是其自身的损失,和普通公众并无直
接关联。
另外,外汇储备的问题其实是货币管理当局自导自演的悲喜剧,主要是强制结售汇制度
和不合理的汇率制度造成的。而且,由于涉及所谓国家机密或商业机密,央行其实并不
愿外人置喙,既然外汇储备的币种结构和投资方向一直都是“像雾像雨又像风” ,我
们又何必殚精竭虑地盲人摸象呢?
外汇储备的概念甚至让许多经济学家混淆。记得年初时,国内某著名经济学家主张要分
掉一部分外汇储备以“藏富于民” ,这就是误把外汇储备当成政府自身财富的典型例
子。虽然央行资产负债表把外汇储备作为资产,但这只是债务性

以前是家长和中学老师主导择校,所以偏重学术(不太贵);现在是学生

你说的是哪所学校?我从做过几年助教的经历来看,这边本科学生一点都不轻松。我博
士学校工学院本科淘汰率一直60%以上。整天party,喝酒,看球的学生估计到不了
junior就给退学了。学生给老师评分每学期都有,总体来看还是很客观公正。感觉这边
的学生挺成熟的。我毕业的学校只是一所普通的州立大学。
美国大学教育肯定存在问题,但不是你说的这个问题。

每年学校都要投入好多钱去搞football,就是为了让高中生能够喜欢这个学校。另外每
年夏天的高中夏令营,组织高中生和家长来学校参观,学校都是如临大敌。如果学校破
破烂烂的,学生可能就不来了。
但是学生招进来干嘛呢?party,喝酒和看球。学习能糊弄就糊弄。学校很恶心的政策
就是让学生来给课程评分。这门课要是难了,评分就很难看,系主任,院长就会找你谈
话。现在的学校更像是学生家长花钱给学生买文凭,顾客就是上帝。
