马拉松和铁人三项。他曾经参加过几次半程triathlon，和若干马拉松。跑过
两次Pikes Peak，他极力推荐，说是天气好的话你跑上去以后真的是会敬畏
上帝的杰作，那四周的风景实在太美了。不过下山的时候他俩大脚趾盖都跑
没了，最后走下来的。：）
听得我很是向往啊。要知道Katharine Lee Bate就是看到Pikes Peak才写的
“American the Beautiful”的。
对了，今早做梦，说是我被忽悠的又要跑一个马拉松，在上次不到两周以后。
不过还没开始跑就醒了。：）

,300' (1,920m) and the summit is 14,115' (4,302m). The Ascent finish/
Marathon turnaround is at approximately 14,050'. The Ascent (and ascent leg
of the Marathon) has very few stretches which are not going uphill with the
average percent grade being 11%.

most expensive and steep climb race. The registration fee is something like
$800. And your computer and network connection has to be fast enough to get
registered. Yet, a couple of my local bike friends have been to this race
many times. One in particular goes almost every year.
So, is there also a running race at Mt Washington?

The running race is something
like $60 to register, but it requires a lottery. I won this lottery last
year, but I injured my knee before the race
and had to skip it. I don't imagine most cyclists can bike up the steep road
faster than runners -- maybe there
should be a bike vs foot race.:)

发帖数: 3290 | 15 I asked the same question. While there is no definite answer, one can think
of the following facts:
1. The road condition is a very dangerous. They have to close the traffic
completely for the race.
2. I am not sure if you are allowed to ride Mt. Washington outside of the
race. But probably just because it is too risky, no one seems to ride it
during normal traffic hours.
3. It is a kind of fund raising race. So, they have a cause.
If the race is canceled due to bad weather (e.g. raining), you don't get
your money back. All you get is a guaranteed slot next year and you have to
pay again.

I hiked Pikes Peak a few years ago. The view on the top, unfortunately, isn'
t that great. With a restaurant and a train station there, there is no
wilderness feeling at all. Plus, it's surrounded by bare mountain tops with
no trees and no snow that time of year in Colorado Rockies. |

altitude. Some might not be able to acclimate in a short time, and catching
a cool is very dangerous.

very shy unless it's a mom with cubs. grizzlies could be agressive and
unpredictable.

发帖数: 991 | 44 是的桶大，距Barr Trail (Pikes Peak Marathon Trail Head)15分钟车程。
Pikes Peak Marathon可是个巨大的挑战，不光要能跑，还得习惯在高海拔上上下下的
跑。每次走在
Barr trail都能看/听到无数人一边“excuse me”，一边呼啸而下/上，这个还是需要
实地
training一下的。
