after 5-year & 10-year graduation. Many choose NOT to attend professional
school right away. MBA program is a good example. I realize that's
misleading since very few school tracks that. So I went on
to search the most recent graduate survey to have a meaningful comparison.

attending同意我的看法。大部分情况下都是private attending喜欢叫consult，但是
service attending或者hospitalist的病人就少很多。 |

Lots of 2010 Match applicants are doing OB. Here are some advice I think
might be helpful:
1. The ultimate goal is to get a great LOR. Do try your best to impress
your attending. Learning medical knowledge is not the priority here.
2. Find a nice attending who is most like to help you. Not just any
attending who takes an observer.
3. Be clear with your attending what you can do, what you can not do
during OB. Ask him directly at the |

发帖数: 5094 | 47 因为国庆节,所以病人争先恐后的跑回家。眨眼间神经科病房还剩了仨。一想到还要
cover ICU，交班的时候血压又上去了20mmHg.后来ICU的senior安慰我说，护士先叫ICU
fellow，如果fellow需要你看病人才会呼你，心就放下一大半。剩下急诊，不需要请示
attending，我和senior就把病人直接送回家了。
统共就收了一个外院transfer病人，attending早就打电话嘱咐好了。唯一不爽的是半
夜两点半睡得迷迷糊糊的时候护士呼我说病人到了，时间早点晚点都行啊。我的senior
从12点多一直睡到了早上7点交班，最后问了我一个问题“我睡觉没打呼噜吧"
刚发现我们这里从学生到attending的白大衣都是一模一样的，除非仔细看胸牌，不然
跟本看不出谁是resident，谁是attending。一个病人看了看我，说你不是intern吧。
我说我不是，I am the Neurology resident。病人好像不太理解这个resident是什么
意思，很配合的做了H&P。突然发现PGY-2还有这等好处哈。:) |

这是什么意思。
我现在的OB，observer基本就是个隐形人，attending基本不会问我的，因为这毕竟是
人家自己medical student和residents的舞台。attending问residents和medical
student的问题他们会的我会，可是也不好抢着答；轮到他们不会的有了沉默空间了，
我也不会或者拿不准了。
要LOR就得想办法能够impress attending吧。所以总是很沮丧觉得自己的知识水平还不
够。看过前辈类似的帖子，说是不要着急，总有机会的。（有个前辈的例子就是
residents汇报病人心率下降认为心源性休克，她说是不是没有停β-blocker啊，顿时
一鸣惊人，attending立刻给上了glucagon.）可是这位前辈的水平也很不一般了。我觉
得我这样水平一般的，只有自己在OB过程中学点东西，积累知识，才有可能有点机会
impressive吧。可是这么厚一本大内科，不知道从哪里看起，总是很焦虑。 |

1.下周这个attending轮到病房的service了，我会跟他在病房呆一周。这一周我需要注
意什么事情呢？需要争取case presentation吗？
2.开始的时候他说会介绍我给PD。可是到现在也没有机会。我自己倒是无意中碰到PD一
次，但当时没有意识到PD，所以也没有自我介绍。如果在病房再次碰见PD了，我该自我
介绍吗？该介绍到什么程度呢？是否要告诉PD我就要申请这个program呢？
3.现在这个attending只带我一个月，我想继续在病房轮转。这个是跟attending说让他
介绍我给病房的医生呢还是需要跟PD直接谈呢？目前attending带我并没有征得PD的同
意，他说oberservation不需要正式申请。但我如果想进病房，是不是一定得正式跟PD
说了呢？
第一次OB，机会也很难得，不想白白浪费了，所以很是纠结，希望大家多多指点，同期
OB的同学们也多多交流吧！
