time I visited a dentist under this insurance plan, and this is a dentist
that I found from the insurance network. No reference.
I visited my dentist every 6 months. Previously, my dentist checked my teeth
and did routine clean. Today this dentist took X-ray, and checked my teeth.
Then she gave me a treatment plan. She said I need to do deep cleaning
twice--one side at a time. She will num my gum. I doubt whether I need |

given no complication during the operation, that multiple students at
different seniority levels will take turn to inspect your teeth, which may
make the whole duration longer than normal. A faculty dentist will come and
check your teeth before any operations to be performed. |

We had a dentist for my son when he was only 1 and a half before we moved to
RTP. Very unhappy experience, which made us hesitate to go to a pediatric
dentist for a very long time.

ray. 今天做root canal, 做了一半，dentist突然说有个root太深，且弯，他做不了
，要我联系root canal specialist. 他在账单上收了我$250，说是initial step of
root canal.
我打听了一下，如果我到root canal specialist那里去，specialist 还是要收我full
fee.
我想问一下general dentist 有没有什么错。他在做之前就可以看x-ray， 就可以看有
没有root太深，太弯, 就可以知道他可不可以做。 为什么要做一半才告诉我，并收我$
250.

之前一天，给他念书，My First Dentist Visit。
先给小子一点Expectation。
我特意给他选了个人人推荐的Ped Dentist Group.
人人推荐的医生太忙了，没选上，
就另外一个把。他们用一样的Office，instruments，
应该还成吧。
十点的Appointment，提前十五分钟去，把事先填好的表交上。
就和儿子坐在一边等待。
儿子发现我们边上正好是Play Area. 立刻跳了进去。
拖着Wagon， 看着我，“Wagon”“Wagon”的叫，
高兴的想我也能分享他的喜悦。边上还有几台游戏机，
有几个大孩子在玩。
一会儿，就叫到我们。先发一张Sticker，First Time Patient，
贴到胸前。然后儿子被带去拍X光。
拍完X光，儿子又拿到了一张Superman Sticker。
然后就在一间Room里等片子出来，医生看。
片子很快出来了，医生也来了。医生是一个白发白眉的老爷爷。
他指着儿子的片子说，牙不错，

I am new to Chicago. Now I want to find a dentist (Endodontists) to do the
root canal on my molar tooth. I have Aetna insurance. The first dentist's
helper I called quoted me as 1200$ for the root canal. She said that the
price may be higher or lower after the dentist examines my tooth. Even
though I did not ask her for the later crown job for the same tooth, I would
guess it will be around $1000 as well. My insurance covers 80% of the cost.

I used to go to Gentle Dental @ Sorrento Valley. Since I recently moved, I
was searching their branches closer to my home just now. Gosh, the
customer reviews for Gentle Dental are horrible. I wish I could have read
those years ago before I visited them. Oh well...I know another dentist

。这个医生是保险公司network里的，保险公司的标准应该和他们一样。妈呀，这是什
么逻辑。
当初这个specialist是我的dentist refer的，因为做crown，时间很紧张，他refer的
我当然去了。结果人家说他们的政策是自己负full amount，他们claim给保险公司后，
保险公司会给我mail check。我当时一再问他们受保险吗，回答很肯定，我就全交了。
后来一直没有受到钱，打电话给保险，说这个医生是contract的，问什么要让我先付，
然后保险给我，这个医生违反了保险公司的要求，拖了几个月才收到钱。今天再跟保险
联系，说医生答复保险的定价不对，保险的人说他是in networ的医生，要遵循保险的
定价。保险去从新审，估计差不多。这笔差150元。
然后就是dentist，从给我和孩子cleaning到大的根管，差10元-60元不等，最大的一笔
是200元。
我这有保险的，保险不就是定价，要不要保险干什么。这怎么能申诉呢。医生都是邻居
介绍的，说不错，就这service. |

But his refund is the difference of what he charged and insurance paid + I
paid. Since the final amount is small, I won't argue.
The specialist won't refund. They said insurance fee schedule is lower than
their fee schedule, I should contact insurance. Also this is a specialist,
his service is different.
I then called insurance. Their claim department will review the claim but

only one dentist for younger kids.
He filled one big teeth for my son in last week and I think he is quite
experience .
You could see your kids teeth yourself carefully. If there is any dark spot,
you may need bring your baby to have a look first. |

牙套妹。现在好了，出国后，最近牙齿有漏洞•••不得不再次看牙
医，那个贵啊，掏钱掏的我肉疼•••然后那个牙医就进来了，像是
外国人，全身捂得严实就露个眼睛，不过眼睛很黑很漂亮，好评••感觉像
是个年轻人。那个dentist就跟我聊天，问我是不是学生在哪上之类的，估计是缓解紧
张。一问，还是UBC校友呢，哟呵，真巧了。他就给我镶牙的时候给我讲了一堆学校趣
闻•••我又不能说话，不能笑，只能听，烦•••

information about the severity of your problems.
My guess is that your gum & filling situation are on still on the borderline
. Generally there is no clear yes/no criteria. People consider the
potential pro/cons, risks, their insurance, financial outlook etc. to come
to the best decision they can.
P.S. replacing a large filling in a tooth by a crown will probably make the
tooth more stable in the long term.

我牙齿不舒服了一段时间了，然后前段时间去了local的一家dental，我是有公司的
dental plan cover的，第一次去做个check，保险全报；
检查的结果医生和我说有periodontics,然后智齿也长歪了之类的，建议要先治疗
periodontics什么的；
然后今天接到了account manager给我打电话给了个quotation，说不做surgery要接近
2000刀，连了智齿一起弄要3000.。。然后人还说，只做periodontics治疗的话，2000
刀只是第一次treatment，接下来还要若干次，每次1000多。。。。
当时我就问为什么这么贵啊，periodontics也不是多罕见的病，那manager和我说这个
治疗药用很贵的抗生素啊什么的，保险不cover，，
然后回家我仔细看了一下我自己的dental insurance plan （是Aetna DMO,版上有人熟
悉这个么），在covered expense里“periodontics”是和filling之类一起算"basic
