很多学校的面试越来越像一夜情，面完之后去找他们，他们就开始遮遮掩掩羞羞答答，
其实告诉candidate你不是第一选择，我们把offer给了别人，那人需要在几周后作出决
定，如果他作出决定了我们再通知你，同时告诉你你在wl上排第几，这才是他们真正应
该做的。面试虽然不是offer，但也是一个契约，作为candidate，他应该认真准备，并
且自己订票按时到达完成指定的面试内容，作为学校，也应该及时对candidate作出通
报，而不是这样打着diplomatic的名义来明目张胆的撒谎。 |

背景：agricultural chemistry相关, PhD, 一年postdoc，有30多publications (包括
research papers, reviews and book chapters), 1 个专利，很多awards。
申请及面试经历：
1． 新加坡一高校, AP：video面试后邀请onsite，两天时间，第一天做研究报告，第
二天试教一堂课，其中有跟主要faculty见面，参观系实验室之类的。
感觉：比较bureaucratic， 他们领导不喜欢自信飞扬的，比较喜欢对他们唯唯诺诺多
多奉承那种。喜欢吹捧自己，贬低北美大学。很多形式主义，不管faculty还是学生，
感觉都面有菜色，不开心的样子。跟其中几个教授谈的时候（面试环节之一），他们甚
至建议我不要来，应该去别的地方，他们都好想跳出火坑。
结果：被拒。
经验教训：我觉得是礼仪方面没做好，吹捧他们不够，离开中国太久，对东方文化有点
陌生了。当然也可能是自己经验不够，很多地方表现太嫩，回答问题太直，问什么答什
么，不够圆滑，不会绕弯。而且准备也不充分，很多问题都没事先准备好答案。穿着也

Reporting from Beijing — At a glance, it is clear this is no run-of-the-
mill farm: A 6-foot spiked fence hems the meticulously planted vegetables

has no problems to mail blank passport from china to Chinese diplomatic
offices overseas, furthmore, they are shipped by diplomatic parcels which
means they are exempt of customs inspection.
It has no problems to mail passports within a country, its only risk is
getting lost during delivery.
However, overseas is a different story. if you google "mail passport"(in
Chinese or english), you will see lots of trouble stories. |

Canada said Tuesday it has formally suspended diplomatic relations with
North Korea over the sinking of the South Korean warship.
The move came a day after the government announced it would tighten
restrictions on trade, investment and other relations with North Korea, and
would suspend visits to Canada by high-level North Korean officials.
Canada has had limited diplomatic relations with the government of Kim Jong-
