new graduate， 本科硕士都是geophysics的解释方向。刚毕业，拿了2个offer，1个
pending，正在纠结中。
SLB/westgeoco 做解释，年薪7W+10% bouns
Haliburton 蓝马，年薪8W+5% bouns
本来这两个就已经很纠结了，但是我之前面试了CGG，说下周二出结果；问题是这2个
offer都要下周一给回复。之前倒也没啥纠结的，但是CGG的这个职位很诱人。进去就是
SUPERVISOR，Hampson Russell组。第一年50W年薪+100%bouns+Memorial的House一套+
BMW的X10一辆。虽然比起师兄们说的70W一年差远了，但是我还是挺满意的，毕竟福利
也不错。
对了，我油公司没申请。因为听说油公司国际学生MS一把一把的，我想想我也一个普普

但是发的东西一定要有新意.
比如那个PEROVSKITE-POST PEROVSKITE就有好几篇.
而且做MODEL的话,一定要结果比以前的好才有希望.
现实是有那么几个人就是容易在N/S发东西.
我老板以前也想发,结果也被锯,HEHE.

have any background of it. If I go back to schools, which major(Petroleum or
Geophysics) is good for me to take according to my previous background? And
which major is better to get a stable job?
I prefer stable jobs because need to support family (2 kids).

嗯，是的。中国人master去油服的倒是听说过。
美国人ms后实习一下就进油公司了。好几个油公司的recruiter明确说不要没身份的
master。我们系里在油公司实习过的老美都表示毕业后很想去这些公司工作。 |

身体不好。另外一个是Geophysics，研究矿物在高压下的流变，感觉有点冷门，像是在

电磁场的数值计算之类。由于对geophysics一无所知，所以不很确定是不是
应该跳。请问做这一行将来能找什么样的工作？已经被告知tenure track非常

首先声明，我不是学油工专业的，我是码工，但是由于本人学校比较特殊，我认识的所
有中国同学，里面大概有一般都是geophysics, geology and petro engineering的，
从我来美国，我亲眼见证了他们怎么一个个的去的大石油公司，而且并不怎么费力(至
少提前半年锁定offer，而且phd期间summer intern很容易就搞到，实习工资在texas
6k-9k不等，当然这个和他们phd做的项目都是大石油公司sponsor有关)。
毕业后，他们(PHD)大多从事的职位是geophysical scientist, geologist, petro
engineer, reservoir engineer(这个比较例外是一个本科学petro的朋友在从事)，工
资在不同公司待遇不等，Exxon给的最多(Phd 150k+/year)，其次是Shell,BP(120k+)等

看见有人说湾区收入高就笑了，给你们科普一下，猴子屯，13-15w年薪非常普通，20w
以上的一大把，加上公司100% match 6-12% 401k， 公司服务到退休有一次性上百万的
pension，还有一周工作四天一周工作五天，每年5周vacation，加州风景再美，这些能
比吗？

中国的大学做门面的。用68个期刊的发表情况来排名，真正的Nature子刊是其中很小的
一部分。一个化学系或物理系在chemical communications or applied physics
letters发表很多文章就可以排得很高，哪怕一片Nature子刊都没有。这个排名忒糊弄
了...弄得很多国内高校吹嘘自己超过MIT,加州理工。
