刚好手边有个英译唐诗三百首,借着翻一下,见笑
Lulled by the wind, the acacia's shade
sleeps on top of the thatched cottage.
Two gray headed friends together stayed
reciting from Li Sao an ancient passage.
Just as the hearts beat to the Tao
and the old ryhmes from Yi Lan Cao.
Across the bridge comes a visitor
with some fine strings on his shoulder.
自己觉得最后一句特别糟糕,古琴不知怎么翻,那种惊喜也翻不出来.
or
Across the bridge comes a unknowing guest,
with musical strings tuned to the best?

so that the virtuous shall be praised
the tone of Yi Lan Cao is now missed
across the bridge with a zither
the expected guest comes hither

Zither is zheng1.
Perhaps it's best just to use qin, and give a short notes on it.

perhaps someone majors in music can enlighten us.

seeing you so good at english poems and modern poems but seldom seeing you
address ancient chinese ones.;)
