My previous office mate told me (He used to climb 13.bc & V10 +),
No.1 thing you pay attention is "listen to your body".
He has finger pain even for normal typing.
Do you have any neck pain? You might consider go see a
doctor, bucause finger numbness might connect to some
nerve issue, very unlikely. You'd better make sure that
is not the case for you.
Go do some other sports like swimming and hiking, come

old school们用daisy chain
后来BD发现daisy chain在需要缩短的时候不安全(可以自己去搜BD的video),有可能
发生无操作。
所以后来的趋势是daisy chain越来越没市场,尤其是在free climb里
至于aid climb,可能因为是教学缘故,很多教材上还是在用daisy chain,其实完全可
以用easy daisy或者personal anchor代替了 |

Crag climbing, sports climbing, water ice, advanced alpine, aid/big wall,
small party self rescue, multi pitch efficiency等都是有基础之后的各个专项。
不过外地的确实时间没法弄。Club里面的instructor基本都是volunteer,不是靠教课
挣钱的guide,都是业余时间的爱好,weekend warrior,你也不能要求人连着教一星期
课。
这次的intense课instructor怎么弄的我不清楚,summit应该知道。 |

首先,从外地大老远飞过来的,大部分都是想去Rainier, 没有多少是盯着St. Helen,
Adam。更没人盯着mt Si之类的。这一来,一成技术攀登,就麻烦。
我这个不是搞IT的独不独,且不说。先说说这个local和non-local的。
从我有的数据看, local or non-local, doesn't matter. 2010年在mitbbs上招慈善
登Rainier, local有7-8个showed interests,带着去爬了一次mt Si, 说了一下需要的
gears, 和体力要求,就只剩下一个人了。可惜没坚持到最后。
Non-local的,4个人报名,最后参加攀登的就一个。也是唯一坚持到低的。我和ycc带
他上Rainier, 我们真是连回不来的打算都有。虽说那次route and weather were
perfect, 我们心里一直都纠着。最后一天下到camp muir, 我都好不容易才舒了口气。
我独不独,自己不好评. 我知道的是,每次我给club climbers说我带一个没有glacier

climbing。
Prefer trad or ice,但是也爬sports, 能够lead old school trad 5.7, 八月下旬
之后有full rack, 目前只有personal gear和一条60m single rope.
除了climbing, 也玩road cycling和trail running (Mt. St. Hilaire)
冬天攀冰,对Adirondacks地区非常熟悉。冬天也玩xc ski on ungroomed trails or
BC ski。冬天有计划和大家一起去Canadian Rockies攀冰。
开车山路下雪没有问题。
对outdoor partner的经验、性别、年龄、种族都无所谓,只要安全第一。 |

ice.
2. 1+ day climb Maude Entiat Icefall. Leave town Friday early afternoon.
Hike 4-5 hr to camp. Bivy and then start at around 3:30am. Moderate alpine
ice + low 5th class rock.

up path finding after dinner, before daylight is gone. Next morning we got a
clear boot track to follow and we are the first team going up since we don'
t need full daylight.

It's actually a long story because I was in the mountain for 4 days. Before I
finish gabbing the whole process, I'd like to jump to my resting day at lone pine.
It's a very nice town which I think is designed perfectly for people to have a
rest after their climbing. First thing first, eat. I hiked Mt Whitney twice,
and other places. Every time I was on trail, sometime somewhere, I felt

We car camped at the trailhead on Friday night. It began drizzling in the
middle of the night. At 4AM, we woke up and shuttled. It was rainy and
chilly. We started off from Boston Trailhead, followed the heavily brushy
trail to Boston Basin. It was wet, cold, and foggy.
We roped up on Quien Sabe Glacier. Mike, Jonathan, Doug and I lead 4 ropes.
There were several crevasses open, but nothing too serious. At 11am, we |

我先抛砖引玉:
1.继续conditional hike,保持体能,争取每周一次
2.这个冬天要serious的搞ski mountaineering了, no snow, no fun.
3.做club的volunteer,给intermediate climbing school做4次assistant instructor
,做instructor的最大好处是,帮自己巩固所学的东西.
4.downhill ski,雪场的,这个肯定不能忘掉,冬季的最大一项娱乐.不过这个冬季不
会像上个冬季那么投入,留一些时间给backcountry ski
5.争取走完crater lake rim loop,或者snowshoe,或者crosscountry ski,去年尝试了
一次,因为天气原因放弃,今年要再试一次. |

analogy. If you have done something extremely difficult, then are you going
to do it again just because somebody won't believe you have done it? You can
ask any climber who may just climbed mount everest last month, or last year
whether they want to do it again. I bet not many of them will want to do it
. Why? Because they already proved themselves, no more glory for doing it
again. No material gain from doing it, either. |
