Packing another peak along the way is certainly nice,
but the fun is surely less than the total and one of the peaks

造山运动和科罗拉多河及其支流的冲蚀后形成了巧夺天工，壮丽慑人的独特地貌景致。
犹他的正东和科州毗邻处有一处被I-70, Green river, Colorado river 划出的三角地
带就是这种奇特地貌的典型。Moab 就包括在这其中。这里集中了两个国家公园和落基
山汇流下的河流，拥有绝对视觉冲击力的奇景，多部影片的摄景地都曾选在这里，想要
真正体会其魅力还是要深入其中的探索，而不是走马观花的下车到此一游。
因为机缘去了大部分的中西部国家公园，有些公园值得再去，包括Moab也去
过三次了，但一直没有对她的审美疲劳。于是又有了今年的计划，可惜传说中的高温吓
住了一些同伴，于是有了这一篇关于探索arches的回忆，这也仅仅只是Moab其中的一个
片断。
这里距离丹佛大概350Mile ，开车6小时左右。强烈建议从丹佛开车过来，走128（沿着
colorado river在红色的峡谷中穿行） 到Moab。第一次听说adventure climbing 是06
年的感恩节，中文的理解应该是探索 |

店名叫brooklyn boulders。是NYC最大的攀岩俱乐部。乘坐R train到Union ST stop下
。在3rd Ave和Degraw的交界。进门收费20刀。有学生证的和教师证的有discount，我
带的教师证，每人16刀。今天去的三位男生和一位美女。鞋子可以自带，出租5刀。有2
种玩法，boulding和top roping。前者稍微简单，后者难度教大，还需要租借harness
，每人都需要一个，每个都5刀。并且玩这个需要上他家的一个课程，15刀。不上课不
能玩这种。就是变着法子收费。
我们玩的是bolding，个人觉得只要胆子大些，体力上第一次攀爬应该都能爬上壁顶。
我第一个试，说实话，爬到一半已经脚发软了，毕竟离地面快2米了，而且这个位置不
好找脚的着力点。可是下面有美女在看着，咱这第一个吃螃蟹不就是给美女看吗？上刀
山也得顶头皮，结果咬着钢牙触到壁顶。第二次手臂开始发酸，勉强触到壁顶。第三次
和第四次都是半途而废。纯属体力问题，和美女无关。美女很聪明，身体柔韧性也好，
她试了踩直绳，离开地面半米的那种 |

3000块是after match，所以如果你的公司有match program的话，自己募集1500就行了。

told I wasn't admitted. I didn't receive any email one way or the other, the
status on the web site still shows pending. If I received a note saying
that I was denied admission for reasons 1-2-3 I would be happy to accept it.
But at this point, I am really disappointed about how (lack of transparency
, poor communication) this is being run and I am going to write to the M
board of directors about the admission process.

But since it is a huge commitment so better communicate with the applicant as earlier as possible (as least before promised deadline) so people can have second choice. And it is better to have specific criteria for acceptance.

However, not necessarily all the lectures and field trips are in Seattle.
Certainly, non of the climb is in Seattle.
Depends on where you live, there are similar courses available by
Mountaineer other branches across western Washington.
If you 想参加很久, check the course out, and arrange your time accordingly. |

在Northwest，特别是Oregon住过的人一般不会对Three Sisters陌生，三姐妹山是位于
Central Oregon的离得非常近的三座火山，是Cascade Range里十几座火山中的三座，
海拔均高于10,000英尺，是Oregon的第3,4,5高的山(次于Mt Hood和Jefferson)。这三
座山被早起殖民者命名为Faith, Hope，和Charity。但是似乎这些名字都没有流行开，
大家通常还是称她们为Three Sisters。South Sister是三姐妹中最高的(10358英尺)，

South Sister的峰顶是一个火山口，直径大概是400米。火山口中间基本都覆盖着雪。
我们到了火山口的边缘时已经是7点，路上一共花了6.5个小时。天空虽然晴朗，但是风
还在慢慢变大。火山口一圈有几处稍微平坦的地方可以扎营，前人已经在这些平地的周
围磊好了石头用来挡风。我们找了一块能够容纳两个帐篷并且离雪地近的营地。因为风
的缘故，我们花了半小时，借助石头们的帮助才搭好两个帐篷。化了雪水开始煮晚饭的
时候，太阳已经偏西。向东看去，巨大的山的影子打在了下面的平原上，甚为壮观。太
阳慢慢西沉，暮云四合，放眼望去，群山巍峨，笼罩在玫瑰色的晚霞中。日落时分，光
线变幻莫测，美轮美奂。太阳落下去以后 |

The Milky Way!
在落日的余辉的头灯的微光中我们吃了顿丰盛的方便面加土豆泥大餐。酒足饭饱之后钻
近帐篷倒头就睡，毕竟头一天晚上3:30就起床了，这时候已经很困了。睡了不到两个小
时就被越来越大的风声吵醒了。风吹在帐篷上呼呼的响，风速可能接近40MPH，气温倒
是不低。睡不着了就穿上衣服起来看看星空。是夜天空晴朗，而且月亮仍未升起，星空
亮得不可思议，天空中穿过一条明亮的带子。在1万英尺高处看过星空后，才更加深刻
的体会到了为什么银河之所以被称之为银“河”。绝对震撼！
