了。我想重问一下prelim的问题。会中有人问若match to prelim但是没有match to
advance specialties，是否可以先完成prelim这一年, 同时继续申请advance
specialty。Dr.迟 的回答是：可以，但是prelim一年会很累。
现我的问题是：我只打算申请内科，可否同时申请同一program的prelim &
categorical以获得更大的面试机会? 完成一年prelim后，转成categorical是否容易?
还是prelim只是为那些申请advanced specialties而设置的？

解，
1， OB和自己申请的科目不是和相符的时候，
应对： 如申请儿科，做内科OB,解释儿科和内科相通，也有很多的sub-specialty, 为
了全面的提高自己，所以还做了内科的。
2， 对于做的OB比较多specialty, 重点不突出，
还是建议将所有的OB都列入CV中，可以解释为作为一个FMG, 希望能尽力去了解美国的
医疗系统，所以没有放过任何的做OB的机会。
3，如面试问起有没有申请别的specialty
说实话，鉴于自己的条件，申请了其他科做backup, |

数人那样？你的这些经验对match有帮助， 但很不幸这真是一个很难进的specialty,
你的这些经验说实话也不是什么eye opener, 就是说对一个PD来说， 这只说明你是个
有经验的resident（which by itself could be good and bad）， not indicating
that you will be a super-star, yes, to match into ENT as FMG, you need
something showing that you are likely to be a superstar. and then some luck.
If you are convinced that is your love, by all means go for it. If you

经济条件允许，尽可能多申请
申请要尽早
申请多少个specialty：持保留意见，理论上不同specialty应该不同的package，
general package比较不好
LOR: 非常重要，至少3封，最好有2封在specialty里，美国医生，不能有任何negative
comment，well known (program director, chairman), 了解自己的人
USMLE score：非常重要
OB/externship：有机会做，但不是非常必须，有进入program的人没有做过OB的
Publication：非academic program不强调
PS: 第一段写好，不要有语法错误
Phone interview: 要注意，是初筛过程；不轻易接，收到留言，反复研究准备好后回
电话

here are the interesting data according to nrmp
2 neuro rankings=35% match rate, 6 neurology rankings =75%
3 internal medicine rankings =40%; 6 internal medicine rankings = 60%
6 pathology = 60%.
Here comes the interesting calculation.
if one has 2 interviews in neurology and 3 interviews in internal medicine,
the odd of matching is 35% + 40% =75%. Isn't it ?

failed anyway.
If you got five IVs in one specialty and one IV in another specialty, it
does not matter if you put that only one at the top or bottom.
If you got five IVs in both specialties, you need to be very careful, follow
your heart!

Background: 去年因为各种原因，麦地有点萧条，作为申请人不见好贴心里不免焦虑。
就在此环境中，几位既往study partner组了个pathology iv group。宗旨：此群不练
习iv，只用于定期交流各pg面试情况。
Material and Method: skype group, 不定期组会。
Result: 小组共15名成员，8名match path，4名match IM。
Conclusion: 虽然当年麦地求助无门，却发现4～7年前各位前辈热心的面经分享，受益
无穷，给面试增添不少信心。遂鼓动小组全体成员，独乐乐不如众乐乐，为2015申请
path童鞋鼓鼓气。

，面试数量也很多，但是无论去到哪里都要保持humble but confident。今天有一个面
试的女生，在所有的candidate都在场的情况下，问了PD一个不太合时宜的问题，PD很
nice的回答了她，结果她来了句：I do not agree with both of these two points”
。而且问问题的时候，下巴一直抬得非常高，给人趾高气扬的感觉，结果中午大家开会
讨论offer名单的时候，她是第一个被踢出局的，而且招到了所有residents一致反对。

章很麻烦，耽误了2个多月，材料才得以从学校寄出。个人觉得申请算是比较顺利。把
我当时准备的情况跟大家说一下也许对将要申请的人有一点帮助。
我个人从这里寄出去的材料包括：
1.国内护士执照的公正，在这里网上找的公证处，在纽约，叫最佳公正，电话

2.指纹卡，就在我住的地方的警察局办的，free
3.handbook上的申请表，贴一张照片在右下角（handbook链接：http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/applicants/exam-app.pdf）
这一页有一项是填社会安全号，我当时没有就空着的，没有关系。
4.两张支票，一张办指纹的($51)，一张申请的($75)
5.写了一封信，表示感谢，一张纸，很客气的几句话

3). less Chinese specialty food, more local fresh groceries. They are
wholesales with frequent hygienic control, i.e. if US guys got problem, they
will shout out in New. But Chinese specialties you will hear no complaints. |

2009-2010: up to date-15 (expecting 30 more before Spring/2010)

It is strong in many disciplines. I feel VT is somewhat better than duke (in
engineering). Duke's engineering is best known for its BME I guess. Don't know
much about Upenn.
