体重会有帮助,不过高速下坡时突然遭遇的切向风仍然会很tricky。有一个折衷方法是
前轮用窄一点的,譬如我的racing wheels配置就是44mm前,66mm后。
If you want to be a true swimmer, a true cyclist and a true runner,sign up
for the three type of races. And I think you ought to be a true(and great)
triathlete which means using wet suite, aerobars and walk(if have to) :)

IOS是本地的一个商店,主营triathlon相关的用品。每周二和周四,有这个店组织的短
距离30英里group ride。其中的A组是出奇的快。
三年多以前我第一次参加这个ride,原因是下班后来不及去几英里外的我的俱乐部主导
的ride,而这个骑行就从我家小区门口经过。本来我还有些怕怕那些在paceline里趴在
aero bar上的家伙。骑的次数多了,渐渐发现,不止是triathletes,还有一些很强的
roadie,包括我师父,也在这个ride里面。于是我放心大胆地跟他们混了一段,搞了不
少的PR。
可惜今年的日程不作美,我和这个group骑得很少,直到上周和这周两个周四,我幸运
地有空和他们骑了两次。尤其是这个周四的骑行,创造了今年速度的PR。这里把视频贴
出来 - 我的FB朋友应该已经看到了,贴在BBS上的好处是,还可以乘机gossip两把。
上周四的骑行后,我把视频贴在FB上,一个俱乐部的家伙立即跳出来说:“在paceline
里用aero bar多不安全啊”。然后我师父马上跳出来拍扁了他,其他人于是不敢多嘴。

不用像专门骑车的那么strong,先给个triathlete的参照系,版主那小短腿都能踩FTP
3.6~3.7W/kg,我大概3.5,业余铁三高手能搞到4.5~5W/kg(比如上海的Guillaume
Lecallier 4.8),大陆一线业余铁三选手差不多4(Yun Su,Haitao Sun这种)。
纠正下,上坡慢不是power低,是power/weight低,平路和下坡慢是power低

triathlete before he turned to pro
cycling, don't you? He is an excellent swimmer. As a runner, he is decent
but not competitive. Still, his marathon PR (2:47) is faster than any current IDs on running board.

你的Core肯定很强,我觉得X2 Core还是很难的。可能我前一阵跑步,没怎么练Core
的缘故,第一次做完X2 Core我好几天打喷嚏都肚子疼。你用Stability Ball和
Medicine Ball吗?
我感觉X2对跑步和其他Sports会很有帮助,因为有太多的Core/Balance练习。所以
不少跑步的和搞三项的都觉得X2会提升他们的成绩。

那个 sedentary man 的火腿没有年轻时候的对比啊,谁知道当初什么样?
还有也看不出 triathlete 在 70 到 74 岁间发生了什么,老人和小孩一样,身体随时
间变化很快的。

扯远了,回来说lilykang这事:他被送进医院的时候已经晚期,整个胃都长满了癌细胞
,半个月就去世了,所以在家人眼里,的确是起病格外快格外猛。可是,癌症不是一夜
之间长起来的,他的病例非常不完整,没有人知道什么时候开始的,连“扩散得格外快
”都不能establish,又谈什么“为什么扩散得这么快”呢?在指数级增长的状态下,
癌症晚期都长得非常快,1天1个样儿。文章里说的新陈代谢与癌细胞扩散的关系,也没
有说是医生说的。到了他那个程度,已经是现代医学束手的地步了。
就我有限的知识,在能治愈的case里面,新陈代谢快有助于修复治疗中被误杀的健康细
胞,所以医生们通常喜欢身体强壮 正当壮年的病人,也一般会建议病人们参加体育运
动,加强身体素质。很多病人因此走上了training的道路,去triathlon community里
混一混,能看到不少以前得过癌症的人 -- 当然,从大病初愈到triathlon,这是一个
漫长的循序渐进的过程。很多癌症病人愈后非常好,不管是couch potato,还是
triathlete,关键还是癌症长在什么地方,发现的时机如何,跟运动本身关系不大。

My guess is everyone's balance is different. What works for me may not work
for others. As long as the diet is reasonably balanced (no extreme low carb/
low fat), it should be ok.

Tempo runs are a popular training run. I often overhear runners commenting
on their “tempo” workouts. However, the more I listen, the more I hear how
misused, misunderstood or misapplied this training workout is by runners
and triathletes. Any of these comments sound familiar?
* I ran a 10 mile tempo run.
* I can’t maintain my tempo pace for 10 minutes.

many people are not sure about one of the three sports, usually swimming or
biking. no worries, just start doing them. things will eventually fall
into places, and you would know what's your weakest link.

I was reading "triathlete's training bible" in the bathroom last night, and
found an interesting tip in running. That is, you should feel that your feet
are moving up and down BEHIND your body, instead of forward and back. This
is slightly unintuitive because I always thought that the way to minimize
impact is to keep the feet as low to the ground as possible. But that is
wrong.
This morning I decided to give it a try. I wasn't gonna drastically change
my running form, but rather just add a hint

刚刚在看Triathlete's training bible,里面讲the science of training讲得很好。
training system是怎么安排workout的frequency/duration/intensity的一门艺术,主
要有三种,random/mixed/periodization。
random就是想干嘛就干嘛,完全看天气看心情看运气。
mixed则综合各种类型的workout: endurance/interval/hill/tempo,每一两个星期重
复一遍。
periodization是最科学的,把一年分成几个周期,base/build/peak/race/recovery,
每个周期都有不同侧重点,同时维持其他类型的fitness。

暑假了,赶在LD还比较有空带儿子,报了个游泳班,第一次下水,给我折腾坏了,一个小时
下来比跑步累太多,到了岸上腿发抖.
而且很悲剧,这个班其实是给TRIATHLETES FINE TUNE SWIMMING SKILL用的,估计就我一
个是秤跎,人家一个来回了,我还刚游到一半,1/4的速度.太丢脸拉.
最近不知道怎么的了,突然间不怎么想跑步,低潮?这周末在YARD里大干革命,雄心壮志要
把MULCH全换成ROCK,现在残废了,浑身上下没有一块肉不酸的.明天重新开始...

Decided to quit, this class is too advanced for me . I look like a clown

you are built for tri, not just for running. triathletes have higher BMI
than marathoners. LA's BMI is 22.8, for instance.
My BMI was as high as 24 recently. I'm trying to cut it down to 23 before my next race. I doubt I could go any lower without losing muscle mass.

Yes, the higher the volume, the more sleep you will need. It is said that
triathletes who work out 20-30 hours per week need to sleep at least 9 hours
per day, including naps.

Yes, top triathletes are almost never elite runners. Needless to say, they still have to be pretty good at
running. The top male at Kona run the marathon leg in 2:4X in hot conditions.
While the ironman is brutal, it's hard to compare it with an ultra. In ironman you utilize different muscle
groups in different legs. On the bike one refuels consistently and can recover. In an ultra, there is almost no
opportunity to recover.
